Chapter 15

"What are you doing here?" Brenda asked, her heart bursting with joy that he'd come to see her. "I need to talk to you," Sonny told her, his eyes boring into hers. "Well I'm working, in case you hadn't noticed," Brenda snapped, not wanting him to know how happy she was to see him. The photographer turned to Sonny, "this is a closed set sir; can you leave?" Brenda hurried in between them before Sonny took the guy's head off. "It's OK, I'll talk to him for a minute." She took Sonny's arm, and led him off. "Who the hell is he?" Sonny snarled. "Forget him!" Brenda exclaimed, "why are you here?" "I had to see you...I can't leave things the way they are." "Why not? You seemed perfectly fine with it yesterday." "You have no idea what I feel Brenda," Sonny said in almost a whisper. Brenda felt herself melting; "well why don't you tell me?" "Do you want to hear it? I didn't think you did." "I want to hear it," she whispered back. She turned back to the photographer, "I need a few minutes here." "I'm on the clock, you know," he informed her. Sonny reached into his pocket and took out a wad of bills. He peeled off five hundred dollars and walked over to the man. "I think this will more than compensate you for your time...now take a hike." The photographer took the money, and left the room without saying another word. Brenda stood with her jaw hanging open. Sonny returned to her side, "now where were we?"

Robin and Jason met up at Kelly's, where she filled him in. "I hope she takes him back," Jason said; "otherwise, it could get ugly." Robin nodded her head, "I know. She wants to be with him Jason, she's just scared." "But what about Sonny?" Jason asked. "I don't understand why he thinks he has to stay away from her." "I don't know, that's just the way he is. He seems to blame himself for other people hurting...like he did with Stone." "But that wasn't his fault, and neither was Sorel grabbing Brenda," Jason replied, still not understanding. "I know Jason, but that's the way Sonny sees it. There must be a reason he's so hard on himself, but I don't know what it is." Jason thought about it. He knew the reason he was the way he was; brain damage. But as far as he knew, Sonny had never been in an accident. He put the subject out of his head; what did it matter anyway? Sonny was who he was, and that was just fine with Jason.

"I have no right to do this, I know," Sonny began. "But as soon as you walked away, I felt like something had been ripped out of me." Brenda melted at his words. The fact was, she had already decided to go back to him the minute he'd walked into the photo shoot. But, she let him continue speaking. "This has all happened so fast, and it's more than I thought it would be. I know you're afraid, and you have reason to be. But I'm asking you to take a leap of faith and stay in my life. Can you do that?" Brenda had to stop herself from swooning. She replied with a simple, "yes." Sonny's worried face broke into a wide, dimpled smile, "really?" Brenda nodded her head, "really. I've been miserable thinking we'd never be together again." "Shhh baby," Sonny said, taking her in his arms, "it's OK now. We're always going to be together."

He moved his hands to her face and held it still as he kissed her thoroughly. When he stopped he groaned, "unh, you're so beautiful." Brenda smiled and kissed him. Sonny's hands started unwrapping the top of her outfit. Brenda pulled back with a start, "wait a minute! What are you doing?" Sonny immediately got defensive, assuming she didn't want him to touch her. "What?" he yelled. "Sonny! We're in a public place!" Sonny looked around and remembered they were in the photographer's studio. He looked back at Brenda and grinned, "so we are, I forgot. I was too distracted by this stunning woman who I just have to make love to right this minute." "But Sonny..." Brenda started to protest. "Sweetheart, I gave the man $500. I think he'll be taking a long break." Brenda giggled and didn't protest anymore as Sonny pulled her down to the floor.
