Chapter 18

"What's the problem?" Jason asked as he joined the group of men in the middle of the rundown house. He looked down at the man tied to a chair, who'd obviously been beaten quite a bit already. "This loser is into us for 20 Gs. He's had months and has only made two payments." "I hit a string of bad luck at the track," the man interjected. Jason glared at him, and the loan shark said, "shut the fuck up! Or do you want more?" Then he looked back to Jason, "sorry. Anyway, he claims he knows the boss, personally, and that Mr. Corinthos would want to cut him a break." Jason looked at the man again, "what's your name?" The man shifted a bit in his chair, "uh, I'd rather save that for Sonny." "Wrong answer," Jason curtly replied. "Look, I swear to you, he'll care if you kill me. He'll care a lot. Can you just get him down here?" "Not unless you tell me your name." "OK, OK! It's...it's Mike...Mike Corbin."

Brenda had finally managed to get her underwear back on, but Sonny wouldn't stop kissing her. "Sonny!" she gasped in between kisses; "I should get back out front." "I'm going to hire another hostess," Sonny replied, "then you can spend every night in here with me." Brenda pulled away from him, "I can't believe you said that! I'm so out of here!" She hurried out of the office. Sonny laughed, assuming she was just playing with him. No matter what she said, he knew now that she loved him and wanted to be with him. He also knew that she wanted him like nobody's business...just like he wanted her. He felt himself getting hard again just thinking about making love to her, which was remarkable, considering he'd taken her two times in the last hour. He was shaken from his lustful thoughts by his cell phone ringing on his desk.

"Corinthos."

"It's me. I've got a possible situation."

"What Jason?"

"Freddie Hutch called me. He's got a squelcher he was about to deal with."

"Why are you bothering me with this stuff Jason? That's your area."

"I know. It's just this dead beat claims he knows you, and that you'd care if he were...you know."

"What's his name?"

"Mike Corbin."

"Never heard of him."

"Oh, OK. I guess he was just trying to save his own skin. He did say you haven't seen each other in almost 20 years."

Sonny thought it over. Maybe it was someone from the old neighborhood he had forgotten.

"Where are you Jason? I'll stop by."

Jason gave him the location and they hung up. Sonny made sure he was all tucked back together, then grabbed his keys. He headed out, stopping to talk to Brenda. "You're not mad at me, are you?" he whispered in her ear. She smiled, "no." He smiled back, "good. I've got to go out again. I'll pick you up at closing." Brenda turned to face him, "oh yeah? Then what?" Sonny kissed her. "Oh sweetheart, I think you can figure that out." "I'm looking forward to it," she replied. Sonny winked at her, then walked out the door. Brenda sighed as she watched him go. "I'll never get enough of that man," she said, probably louder than she really intended.
