Chapter 6
"Hey Brenda! Busy night, huh?" Brenda smiled as Robin entered the restaurant. "Yeah it is, but don't worry, there's always room for you. You sit at Sonny's table anyway," Brenda responded. Sonny had a table towards the back that was held for him every night. Usually, he spent more time in the office dealing with his other business, but since Brenda started working there, he spent more and more time sitting at his table, watching her. Robin looked and saw that Sonny was already sitting there, eating dinner. "Well, I'll go over," she told Brenda. Brenda grabbed her arm before she could walk off. "He asked me out," she whispered in Robin's ear. "He did?" Robin excitedly exclaimed. "Yes; dinner tomorrow night. I'm so nervous." "Where's he taking you?" Robin asked. "Oh, I don't know. He didn't say, and I was too flustered to ask." Robin giggled. "Want me to find out?" Brenda thought about it, then replied, "no, that's OK. I'll let him surprise me." Some other customers came in, and Brenda had to go seat them. Robin headed back to Sonny's table. He got up when he saw her and kissed her on the cheek. "Hey Robin, Robin, Robin!" He cheerfully greeted her. Robin looked at him, amused, "well you're certainly in a good mood. And I think I know why." The both sat down, and Sonny replied, "oh you do? Brenda told you, huh?" Robin nodded her head, "yeah. I'm glad you asked her out. Saved me the trouble of convincing you to." Sonny laughed, "well you know I can't refuse you anything, but I got there on my own." He looked over at Brenda, who was seating yet another party. "You really like her, don't you?" Robin asked. Sonny looked back to her, and said, "I'm taking the 5th on that one." Robin got serious, and took his hand in hers. "Sonny...what are you going to tell her?" "About what?" "About you...what you do." Sonny got defensive; "I own a restaurant Robin, what are you talking about?" "Sonny, you know I love you. And none of it matters to me. But I know that you're into a lot of stuff, other than the restaurant." "And just how do you know that?" Sonny asked through his teeth, fighting to maintain his control with Robin. "Did Jason..." Robin quickly shook her head, "Sonny no! Jason would never tell me anything about your business, you have to know that! But I know the signs, I know what it all looks like...I told you about my stepfather." Sonny relaxed a bit and nodded his head. Robin had told him about Duke Lavery, and Sonny had heard of him independent of her as well. He gave Robin a sad smile, "you're too smart for your own good you know." Robin smiled back, "yeah. So, what about Brenda?" "What have you told her?" "Nothing Sonny, I swear. But she suspects there's more to you than you're showing her. What happened in Kelly's didn't help." Sonny nodded his head, "yeah. Well, thanks for the head's up; I'll figure out what to tell her. But you have to know, the stuff I keep from you, and her, it's for your own good." "I know Sonny...I just hope Brenda can understand that."
Across the restaurant, Brenda watched periodically as her friend and her boss engaged in intense conversation. Sonny's face had gone from all smiles, to rage, to sadness in the space of a few minutes, and Brenda's fears about getting involved with him starting growing again. "What makes him so volatile?" she wondered, "and will he be that way with me?" She stared at Sonny, who was still talking to Robin; "who are you Sonny Corinthos?"
The next evening, Brenda stood nervously in front of the mirror in her room at Kelly's. She was wearing a short, shimmery, silver dress, with thin spaghetti straps. It clung to her breasts, then fell in an A-line down to mid-thigh. High-heeled silver sandals completed the outfit, and showed off her legs. Brenda knew she was playing with fire...she knew what men liked, and that how she looked could drive them mad with desire. And she knew that Sonny was as hot-blooded as they come. For as quick as he was to anger, she figured he was just as quick to passion. Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. She went over and answered it. There stood Sonny Corinthos, in a black suit with a white shirt open at the neck; his hair slicked back. Brenda smiled at him. For the first time in his life, Sonny was totally at a loss for words. She looked so beautiful, so sexy, he didn't know what to say or do. All he knew was that he wanted this woman; not just for a night...but forever.
