On the plane...
"I don't appreciate being ordered to go on this trip with you Sonny. I'm not one of your henchmen you know." Alexis tried to sound offended and convince her travel companion that the trip was a major inconvenience. "I had to put two other clients on hold for you," she added. Sonny looked at her as she spoke, amused. He could tell she wasn't really angry. In fact, he could swear he sensed something all together new and different about her, but couldn't quite put his finger on it. "I'll make it worth your while," he answered her with a smile. "What's that supposed to mean?" Alexis exclaimed, her cheeks flushing. Sonny shrugged, "it means I'll pay you triple, as usual. What did you think I meant?" Alexis didn't respond and reached into her briefcase for some paperwork to busy herself with. "What are you doing?" Sonny inquired. "I have work to do. You'll just have to amuse yourself for the rest of the flight." Sonny chuckled and watched as Alexis tried to look like she was concentrating on work. "Boy it's warm in here," he mentioned, taking off his suit jacket and tossing it onto an empty seat on the private jet he had leased for the trip. Then, he unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt. Alexis couldn't help but sneak a peak from the corner of her eye. "Oh my God. His skin is so tanned, so smooth," she thought. Drool threatened to escape from her mouth, so she quickly reached for the glass of soda water she'd been nursing since take off. For his part, Sonny had already finished his scotch. He knew he'd been drinking a lot more since Carly's betrayal, but he couldn't seem to stop it. It was more habit now than anything else. He looked over at Johnny, who along with Adam, had joined them for the trip. "Hit me again Johnny." Johnny got up from his seat and walked over to take Sonny's glass. Alexis looked up from her briefs. "How many of those are you going to have?" she asked. Sonny ran his hands over his face before responding, "what difference does it make Alexis?" "Sonny, I know you're hurting because of what Carly did, but excessive drinking, and women I might add, isn't going to help."
Johnny stopped in his tracks, holding the glass in mid air. He looked at Sonny, wondering how the boss would respond to his lawyer talking to him like that. Sonny wasn't the least bit upset by her comments. He knew she must really care for him if she was so concerned. He waved Johnny off, who walked away with the glass feeling cheated out of the fireworks. Sonny looked at Alexis, "I appreciate the concern Alexis, I really do. I drink because it calms me down; I don't feel like killing someone every minute." "Well, that's good I guess." He leaned closer to her and stared into her eyes, "and as for the women. Well...a man has needs you know." Alexis gulped and pulled back as far as she could in her seat. "You know what?" she stammered; "it's really none of my business Sonny. If you want to cavort with...Jasmine...that's up to you." Sonny sat back in his seat and replied, "well actually, I won't be seeing Jasmine anymore." Alexis' eyes grew wide, "why not?" "It wasn't fair to her. I was just in it for the sex, and I'm sure she wanted more." Alexis straightened herself out in her seat, "did she say she wanted more?" "No, but they always do." "You are such a Neanderthal Sonny!" Alexis exclaimed, just as Johnny returned with Sonny's scotch. Sonny laughed and looked at Johnny, "do you have any idea what she's talking about Johnny?" "No sir," he quickly answered as he handed him the glass and then hurried back to his seat to watch the show from a safe distance. "If you're implying that I'm a caveman Alexis, I've been called worse; by you as a matter of fact." "Let me educate you Sonny. Today's modern woman is perfectly capable of having a casual, physical relationship with a man, without wanting him to marry her." "Really? Talking about yourself Alexis?" Alexis froze, "well...no...that's not what I meant!"
"Well, you would have been happy if you and Ned had kept it casual. Then you wouldn't have had to run out on the wedding." "But Ned and I were good friends too," she protested. "Right. So you weren't capable of having just a physical relationship. There was more to it. And that's fine, I'm the same way. I mean, I can have fun to a point, but then, if it's not going somewhere there's no point in continuing," Sonny explained. Alexis felt a surge of hope rush through her, but it was quickly dashed when he added, "but since I'm never falling in love again, I can't spend too much time with any one woman." "Don't say never," Alexis whispered, staring at him. Sonny stared back, feeling himself slipping into her eyes, "yeah. I guess never's a long time."
