Sonny Corinthos

Chapter 14

The weeks passed and Sonny was relatively content. Carly seemed to have gotten the message, and was leaving him alone. He and Alexis were growing closer, but  were still only friends in Sonny's mind. He wasn't ready to get involved with anyone yet, and there were so many factors to consider before getting involved with one's attorney. His men had been keeping tabs on Alexis, Kristina, Angel, Jax and Carly. Kristina was safely tucked away, which made Alexis happy. Sonny took her to see her sister often, but was careful to not give away the location of the safehouse to anyone. Angel was still at Loon Lake, where Jax visited her. When Sonny heard that they'd been seen skinny dipping together, he almost lost his lunch. And it seemed that Jax had also been spending time with Carly, which only served to make Sonny laugh. Once again, Jax was second best, taking up where Sonny had left off. And, he was two-timing Carly with Angel to boot. The coffee business was going well, as was the "business." No one new had shown up to try to infringe on Sonny's territory, and since the word had spread about how he dealt with Sorel, he doubted anyone would. But, he wasn't letting down his guard for a minute; he'd learned his lesson. A knock on the penthouse door jarred him out of his thought. "Yeah?" Johnny opened the door, "uh, Elizabeth Webber is here to see you." "Let her in." Sonny stood up to greet her. "Hi Sonny. I'm really sorry to bother you." "That's OK. What's wrong?" Elizabeth smiled, "you always know when something is, don't you." She proceeded to tell him about Lucky and Helena, and her and Nicholas' plan to save Lucky. "But, to convince Helena that Nicholas is really on her side, he has to kill me." Sonny narrowed his eyes, "come again?" "Well, she wants him to kill me. Of course he's not going to, but that's what we need your help for. We've got this drug that'll make it look like I'm dead, but we were hoping you could get me out of the country, somewhere safe, afterwards." "This is very risky, you know," Sonny replied, concerned. "What if something goes wrong?" "I know, but it's the only way. I'll do anything to save Lucky. Please." Sonny was impressed with her loyalty to Lucky. She was willing to risk her own life for him. "What does Luke say about all this?" "Oh, you don't know?" "Know what?" "Helena made Lucky inject him with something. We're not sure what. He's been acting really strangely. He really can't help us." Sonny walked to the door and opened it, "Johnny! Have someone track down Luke Spencer. Don't approach him, just let me know where he is." He shut the door, and returned to Elizabeth. "OK, I'll make all the arrangements. Nothing will happen to you, you have my word. Just let me know when it's a go." Elizabeth put her arms around him and hugged him tightly. "Thank you Sonny. I owe you for this." Sonny responded with a nod of his head, knowing full well he'd never ask her for something in return.

An hour later, Johnny reported that Luke was seen wandering the docks. Sonny grabbed his coat and headed out. "You stay here and guard Alexis." "OK, but let me call someone to go with you." Sonny agreed, and Johnny called Adam to meet Sonny in the garage. When Sonny arrived at the docks, he found Luke sitting on a bench, muttering to himself. "Luke?" He sat down next to his friend. Luke looked at him then looked back at the water. "What do you want Corinthos? Did the ol' ball and chain give us another job to do?" Sonny was confused, "what are you talking about? Frank Smith? Luke, he's been dead for years." Luke became agitated, "what? Did you kill him? Damn it man, I wanted to do that, you should have let me do that!" Sonny was at a loss for what to do or say. Luke was obviously delusional and confused about what year it was. Fortunately, Laura Spencer arrived on the scene. "Oh Sonny, thank God you found him." Sonny got up and walked over to her, and she added, "Elizabeth told me you were looking for him, and that you are going to help her...us. Thank you so much." "My pleasure Laura. What is wrong with Luke?" "Helena injected him with some biotoxin, we think. He keeps shifting time in his mind." "Man. So what can we do?" "You've done enough Sonny, really. I'll take it from here," Laura replied. "Are you sure?" "Yeah, maybe just help me get him to my car. You know Sonny, he told me that you two had reconciled, so to speak. I'm very happy for you." "Thanks, I'm happy too. Come on, let's go."

Meanwhile, Helena was putting the her final plan in place. Nicholas was about to kill Elizabeth; then Stavros would be reunited with his son. And then, she would gather all her enemies together and finish them off, once and for all. Confident in her mad scheme, Helena didn't realize there was one factor she didn't plan on: Sonny Corinthos and his feelings for his friend and attorney Alexis Davis. Feelings, that he had yet to realize.
