Well Worth the Wait

a Sonny & Brenda story

Chapter 13

Sonny woke the next morning to find Brenda gone; he'd finally fallen asleep early in the morning after another glass of scotch. His first thought was that she changed her mind about living with a gangster, and had split. But then he found the note she'd left on her pillow.

Hey lover,

Have a class first period today so I had to run. I took a cab to school, so maybe you can pick me up at 2:00?
I guess I need to go home and get my car, but I'll worry about that later. I miss you already,

Brenda

Sonny sighed and got out of bed. He'd totally forgotten she was still in High School, and the reality of that made him nervous. She was still so young, even though the past few days had been lived on a very adult level. He pondered, "maybe I'm expecting too much of her?" He shook the thoughts from his head and headed to the shower. After he dressed, he went downstairs to find Joseph waiting for him. "Good morning boss." "Morning Joseph," Sonny replied, checking his watch. Joseph had been waiting quite a while, but he wouldn't dream of saying anything, nor would Sonny dream of apologizing. "What's on the plate today?" Joseph asked. "Frank's in town; I got a meeting with him at noon at the No Name," Sonny informed him. "While I'm there, I want you to go to Barrett's house and get Brenda's car." "Uh, do you have the keys?" "Good point, Brenda's probably got them. OK, after the meeting we're picking her up at school. Then you take the keys and go get the car." "Yes sir," Joseph replied, digesting the 'at school' comment. He wondered what the boss was doing with such a young woman, although he had a pretty good idea. Sonny could almost read his mind, and he knew that everyone would be thinking the same thing. "Screw 'em," he muttered. "Sir?" "Nothing; never mind. Wait outside." Joseph left quickly; he was adept at reading Sonny's moods, and it was obvious he'd just switched into a bad one.

Meanwhile at PC High, Brenda was filling Jill in on the recent events, leaving out the information about Sonny's occupation. "You moved in with him?" Jill exclaimed in a whisper. "Yes." "What did your father say?" Brenda shrugged, "that I was a tramp, but who cares anyway?" "And he just let you move out?" "He didn't have a choice." Jill was confused, but the teacher came in the room and she didn't have time to ask Brenda what she meant. Throughout the class, Brenda kept looking at her watch, counting the minutes until Sonny came to get her. She couldn't wait to be back in his arms.

"Sonny!" Frank Smith greeted Sonny with a smile and hug. "Frank, good to see you." The men sat down, with their guards sitting nearby or standing at the bar. "How's the real estate deal?" Frank asked. Sonny shifted in his seat, and replied, "good. It's going fine; very profitable." Frank nodded his head, "I know it is, that's why I'm concerned Sonny." "About?" "About you shacking up with Harlan's eighteen year old daughter. Sonny, really, did you think about this at all?" "Actually, no," Sonny answered honestly. "I mean, I thought about getting involved with her before I did, but the living together thing just happened." "How'd it just happen?" "Harlan's a bastard Frank. He emotionally abuses her; he treats her like crap. I was going to kill him if I didn't get her away." Frank studied Sonny's face, and then replied, "well you made the right choice then. This way you get to take care of Brenda, and we get to take care of business." "Right. So, you're OK with it?" "It's not the most ideal situation," Frank said, "but I have a daughter, as you know." "Yeah, and you treat her right," Sonny interjected. "I like to think so. I would never be cruel to her like you say Harlan is to Brenda. Good luck Sonny, you deserve a good woman by your side." Sonny smiled with relief and happiness. "She's that and more Frank…thanks."

A few minutes past two and Brenda was in front of the school waiting for Sonny. She kept looking for the Jag, and was surprised when a black limo pulled up. Joseph got out and opened the back door for her. "Hey Joseph," Brenda said. "Good afternoon Ms. Barrett," he replied. Brenda climbed in and found Sonny there. She gave him a sexy smile, "well hello." "Hello yourself," Sonny growled, pulling her to him. The limo pulled away, and Brenda sat on Sonny's lap as they kissed. "Mmmm, I was thinking about this all day," she told him. "Me too baby. So, any plans this afternoon?" "Nope, how about you?" Sonny looked up as if he was in deep thought, and then looked back into her eyes. "Yeah. I was kinda thinking of taking you home, to bed, and rocking your world. What do you think about that?" Brenda moaned, "ooh rock me baby," and lowered her mouth down on to his once again.
