Brenda Starr, Little Girl Reporter, 1994

Sonny: Sorry, but ol' Ray bought the farm without any of my help.

Brenda: What about a set up?

Sonny: That's not a half-bad idea. I wish I'd have thought of it.

Brenda: Ah, so you hate Jagger that much huh?

Sonny: Isn't that one of the many things you and I have in common? Which makes me wonder;
why are you so interested in getting him cleared? Didn't he dump you (laughs) for Karen?

Brenda: (laughs) You don't know what you're talking about.

Sonny: Hey, maybe you're the one who set him up. Makes as much sense as me.

Brenda: I would never do that.

Sonny: Then what's the deal here? Are you just hoping he's going to come running back to you out of sheet gratitude?

Brenda: Listen, Jagger's not with Karen and he's not with me either, OK?

Sonny: Boy that Jagger...he just leaves a trail of broken hearts.

Brenda: He's not a bad guy. Listen, just because I know when to cut my losses as far as our personal relationship goes,
and I don't believe in banging my head against a wall over a lost cause, doesn't mean I don't still care about the guy.
And I won't see him go to jail for something he didn't do Sonny.

Sonny: (impressed and intrigued) I admire your loyalty. But I think you're wasting your time on the wrong person.

Brenda: What about you? I mean, are you wasting your time on the wrong person?

Sonny: You mean Karen? No way I'm carrying a torch for that one. I've got bigger fish to fry.

Brenda: Glad to hear it.

Sonny: So, what is Port Charles society going to think? You, sitting here in a private conversation with me?

Brenda: (stares at him) You mean uh, what's gonna happen to my reputation? I couldn't care less.
I don't believe in reputations, do you? I mean uh, forget the gossip, I believe in finding out about someone for myself.

Sonny: (likes the sound of that) Wow...that's a good policy.

(Marco Dane knocks on the door to get Sonny's attention)

Sonny: But I gotta go. Um, well continue this at a later date...this finding out about the real person.

Brenda: OK. (nods and watches him get up)

(Sonny leaves. Brenda gets up and walks over to the window.
She leans her head on the glass and breathes a sigh of relief.
Then she turns back to Ruby, and shakes her head.)

(End of scene)
