Music has always been a big part of my life. Every since I was able to talk, I have been singing. I love to sing and have taken voice lessons to train my voice. I have also played the piano since I was in 1st grade. I was the only one in my class to have stayed with my lessons long enough to play a senior piano recital. I love playing the piano and wish I had more time to do so. I believe that music is an important part of every student's life. Music is powerful and can have a heavy influence in the lives of students. A study known as the Mozart Effect has shown that if students listen to classical music while doing homework, their memory is increased and they do better on the upcoming test. The Mozart Effect was founded by Gordon Shaw and some of his fellow colleagues. This experiment showed how music affects the brain to increase intelligence and spatial-temporal memory. This is part of a speech that I presented in COM 110. You may find the rest of the speech if you click on the following link: Music is very helpful in many ways for helping students to learn. |
