Stealing and retrieving motivates a club member to visit other clubs
Stealing: When members of the same club visit another club's dance and enters the drawing with the other stealing clubs to win the banner of the club hosting the dance. By winning the banner, then the club, whose banner you have stolen, must visit your club to retrieve their banner.
Retrieving: When club members of the same club visit the dance of a club, who has stolen their club banner, in order to retrieve it.
Signing-Up
If you have suggestions for dances/clubs to steal or retrieve at, let Joan Schultz know.
Sign-up sheets will be posted at our regular club dance for the steals and/or retrieves for the upcoming weeks. Sign your full name.
Preferably, an equal number of ladies and men sign-up. If not, then the banner chairpersons will ask/call other members to join the group. Or if the ratio of ladies to men is still too one-sided, then they may inquire if anyone would want to drop out or switch to another steal/retrieve. Or they may have to actually cancel the steal or retrieve.
One you have signed-up, committing to the steal or retrieve, you should call the banner chairperson only if for some unforeseen reason you can not keep the commitment. They will try to replace you, so please give then as much notice as possible.
If you didn't sign-up, but are now wanting to join the group, please call the banner chairperson before going to the dance. By calling, this will help prevent the ratio from getting too one-sided and provide you the best opportunity to dance. The exception to calling, occur of you and a partner (a couple) decide at the last minute to join the club at the dance.
At the Dance
If there is not an equal number of ladies and men from our club, then please take your turn sitting out a tip. Exceptions, would be at other singles club dances, where it is acceptable to ask other singles to be your partner. If you are at a couples club, it is usually not appropriate to ask anyone other than a single dancer to dance. You may accept an invitation to dance as situations present themselves.
Before accepting a tip from a dancer outside your club, remember to make sure your fellow club members are dancing.
Remember, your club is a reflection of you and you are a reflection of our club. Updated 7/14/2007
