Boston Scientific Corporation March, 2004 - Present
One Boston Scientific Place
Natick, MA 01760-1537

Pre-Clinical Research Principal Pathologist

  • Study cellular changes at the tissue, microscopic and molecular levels to diagnose disease processes.
  • Evaluate gross and histopathology analysis (Anatomic Pathology) and Clinical pathology data to generate pathology reports for TDP and PDP. These reports form the basis for the assessment of medical device biocompatibility and safety.
  • Contribute heavily to the understanding of local and systemic responses of tissues to the implanted devices.
  • Provide pathology expertise to technology and products development teams.
  • Review pathology reports from outside consultants to ensure accuracy.
  • Support other departments with technical input, presentations and technical information.
  • Assist in the direction of technical methods development by lab staff, proposes new and novel study endpoints and provide technical expertise on medical device-host tissue interactions.

Cardion Pharmaceuticals Inc. May, 2001 - March, 2004

Senior project manager, Pathology Department

  • Organizing new Pathology Department operations including overall management, hiring personnel, establishing techniques for frozen and paraffin sectioning of animal tissues for histology.
  • Supervising development of routine, special and immunohistochemistry staining techniques to support Cardion's scientific projects (CIA, NOD, heart and islet cell transplantation and other animal models).
  • Conducting and reporting results on toxicology/safety studies.
  • Analysis of morphological changes, including Image Analysis, of animal tissues from different animal models of autoimmunity and transplantation.
  • Working with CRO representatives to establish protocols for pre-clinical safety studies.

Biogen Inc. April, 1999 - April, 2001
14 Cambridge Ctr,
Cambridge, MA 02142

Senior Scientist, Bioassay Development

  • Developing FACS protocols to study the effect of fusion proteins on human/animal PBL phenotype using cells separation, culture, stimulation and immunofluorescent staining.
  • Developing recommendations for using PBL surface markers for different clinical tails.
  • Analysis of FACS data from clinical trials.
  • Establishing the normal ranges for cell surface markers (FACS data) in donors.
  • Developed the Image analysis techniques using two programs: KS200 and MetaMorph. Utilizing these techniques to study morphological changes in Lymphoid system in primates and rodents. Applied the Image analysis to study angiogenicity, proliferative and apoptotic rate in tumors.
  • Conducting and reporting results on toxicology/safety studies.
