CHEETAH NEWS

- The 2009/ 2010 Indoor season is off to a great start! There is still time to register!

- The Cheetahs picnic was a great time for all who attended. Codi Perry was inducted into the Cheetah Hall of Fame.

- Two Cheetahs earned Junior Olympic National Medals, Todd Nibbs, 4th place in High Jump, at the USATF meet, while Maya Barber earned a 7th place medal, in shot put, at the AAU meet.

Many Cheetahs performed very well, in advancing to the USATF Jr Olympic Regional, on July 11th & 12th.

Jasmine Watts (Carmel) - 100M, long jump

Codi Perry (Ben Davis) - 300M hurdles

Camille Edwards (North Central) - 100M Hurdles, Long Jump, 4x100

Montayla Holder (Lawrence Central) - 300M Hurdles

Justin Boone (North Central) - Long Jump, 300 Hurdles

Todd Nibbs (Brownsburg) - High Jump, 4x100

Our first Summer Session is under way. People can still register, at practices, on M, T, TH, and F. See Summer Programs for more information. 

 - We had a great Elementary School season. We had five locations this year, with 200 athletes.

 - Jadonna Robinson has taken nearly 3 seconds off her indoor time, in the open 400. The Carmel freshman ran a 62.8 in a varsity meet. Great job, this early. 59 by sectional!

- VYPE Magazine did a nice article on Camille Edwards, and Leigha Tolliver, the orginal Cheetahs. http://magazine.vype.com/showmag.php?mid=wsfwsf#/page23/

- RJ O'Neal was named to his basketball league's allstar team, as well as his school's acedemic allstar team. Now, I am not big on basketball, but I love to see our kids excell!

- Chloe Winston won the grand prize for WellPoint's Black History Essay contest. Congratulations!

- Although recovering from a recent hamstring problem, Camille Edwards qualified for the 55M hurdles indoor state finals, with a time of 8.36. Camille will enter this event as the top seeded hurdler.

Camille also qualified in the long jump, along with Leigha Tolliver, and Justin Boone. Leigha, battling nagging injury as well jumped 17'8". Justin continues to improve, and finished 3rd with a personal best jump of 20'6".

Already qualified, Jasmine Watts finished 2nd, behind Leigha Tolliver, at the MIC indoor championships, with a jump of 17'6".

- Jasmine Watts qualified for the Indoor State meet, in the 55M dash, and long jump.

- In her first high school meet, Hannah Brickey set a new Plainfield freshman 55M hurlde record.

- The Cheetahs had an excellent showing at the AAU Indoor Nationals. I will detail the medal count soon. Great job team!!!
