Looking Ahead

Rev. Jeffrey H. Jordan-Pickett is the pastor of MCC Philadelphia. A native of West Virginia, Rev. Jeff moved to Pennsylvania after being outted and defrocked by the then Bishop of the 3rd Episcopal district of the AME Church.

Jordan-Pickett, originally met MCCP when accidentally stumbling upon and attending his first pride parade.
In October 1994, Pastor Jeff was installed as pastor of MCCP. Since his installation Jordan has moved MCCP in the direction of offer-

ing transformational Christ centered worship celebrations and ministries which are more relevant to the GLBTQ community.

After spending 10 plus years as a resident of the William Way LGBTQ Community Center, Jordan-Pickett has recently lead the congregation in relocating to University City where he hopes those already a part of MCCP will begin better serving LGBTQ marginalized communities.

MCC in the Media

Did you know that in an average week MCC is mentioned in the media over 30 times?  Sometimes it's a reference to the work of the denomination, sometimes to the specific ministry of a local church, and sometimes to one of our leaders. If you see MCC  noted in a  newspaper, on the  internet, on TV, etc., send that information to
JimBirkitt@MCCchurch.net.

One example was the mention of MCC on
Southland, a new TV program in the US.  A Child Protective Services worker was interviewing a mother who was trying to get her son back; the worker asks the mother if she is affiliated with a church. She responds, "I mostly go to MCC in Hollywood. They are kind of gay but they're really nice and I can bring Jimmy."

Pride Weekend Coordinators -- Pride Weekend is coming up June 20-21. MCCB usually participates in the parade on Saturday and has a booth at Druid Hill Park on Sunday.  We need to have a coordinator for each event. If you are interested in coordinating either day, please contact the pastor.
