Traditional Sunday School
Traditionally, Sunday School students have been assigned to one room and one teacher for the entire Sunday School year.
The teacher was challenged to keep the students engaged in a new Bible story every week for about 35 weeks. It was a
real challenge to keep kids coming back.
The WoRM
The Workshop Rotation Model for Sunday School began in 1990 in Chicago. As of 2005, more than 8,000 churches in the US
and Canada and now it is coming to Elam Church!
The WoRM concentrates on the major stories of the Bible, presenting them repetitively in various mediums. Kids love
repetition and also need it to develop lasting memory and understanding of the content.
Students spend four weeks experiencing a single Bible story using a different learning medium each week. Workshops may
include computers, drama, arts & crafts, cooking, games, and music and can change every four weeks.
Benefits for Students
- A new activity each week
- A variety of skilled teachers
- Fun learning environment
- A concentration on a set of memorable stories
- An opportunity to have fun while growing spiritually
|
Benefits for Teachers
- Run the workshops you are comfortable teaching
- Concentrate on one story for four weeks
- Commit to one or more workshops in a school year, not to the whole year
|
Benefits for Elam
- The more fun the children have, the more likely they are to attend Sunday School. The more they attend, the more they grow spiritually.
- As the children grow more enthusiastic, they will tell their friends about our program and invite their friends to join them.
- As our Sunday School grows, our congregation grows. The opportunities to spread the word of God and serve others through missions increase as our numbers grow.

How can YOU get involved?
 |
Volunteer: We can always use fresh faces and new volunteers to teach workshops. Committing to a four week rotation
once or twice in the Sunday School year would be a big help. The lessons are planned for you so you can enjoy teaching with
a minimal amount of preparation. |
 |
Support: Please consider making a generous donation to the Sunday School program. We will be purchasing computers and
costumes to start the program and will need cooking ingredients and other supplies for our workshops throughout the year. Please designate
the Sunday School program when sending your contributions to the church. |
