What is THE ELKS?

B.P.O.E. is a nationwide fraternal organization founded in 1868. The first lodge in Washington was Seattle Lodge #92 founded in 1885.

Who can become an Elk?

Any U.S. Citizen of good character at least 21 years old who believes in God, Country, and Flag and our principles of Charity, Justice, and Brotherly Love.

How many Elks are there?

2,150 Lodges in our 50 states, with over 1 million members. Washington has 40 Lodges and a membership over 29,000.

What do Elks do?

We actively sponsor, support and/or participate in over 50 charity, community, state, and national services, programs for youth, the underprivileged, and needy by donating money and volunteering time.

How may I become an Elk?

Contact a member or the Lodge Secretary and complete an application, pay a nominal initiation Fee; then attend a meeting for orientation to prepare for joining the Order. Your Elks membership gains your entry into all Lodges across the country… safe and pleasant palces to visit while traveling.
