Design The Ultimate Amateur Radio

Have you ever wished your radio had some little extra feature that just wasn't there?

Here's your chance to design the ultimate radio, a radio with all the bells and whistles you've ever wanted.
You name the the features you'd like on the ultimate radio and I'll list them on this page.
It doesn't really matter if the technology exists for your feature, if you want it, ask for it.

E-mail any radio suggestions via the home page. I'll post appropriate responses.

The Ultimate Amateur Radio

Bands: 1.8 MHz - 1.3 GHz
1500 Watt output and ability to set to the maximum power your license allows
Built in tuner able to handle the output power
Built in radio direction finding control to aim the antenna at the signal
IF level digital signal processing
Built-in RS-232 (maybe TTL also, for C-64 users) interface
Control software available that, among other things, can restrict the transmitter to only the sub-bands you're licenced for
Clock with push-button to start/stop a 10-minute ID alarm
EPROM or flash-ROM containing bands, so that as bands are moved or changed the transmitter can add them (would require a transmitter with general-coverage capability)
General-coverage receiver
All filters included
Low-noise PLL synthesizer, digital display
Tone control, or built-in digital audio filter
Easy to use and see keypad for direct frequency entry
Built-in code-practice oscillator with simulated QSOs
Desk mic and key included
Spectrum analyzer
Built in antenna switch, and four antenna connectors
Additional clocks/timers with text display which can be programmed to alert you for net/qso schedules. With a press of a button you would be taken to a pre-programmed frequency
DTMF pad included both on mike and on radio.
Dual VFO's
Ability to listen to any 2 bands at once (monitor local repeater while working HF).
Built in Automatic Antenna Tuner
A triple DSP filter that is automatic. No tuning it.
