Empire Deluxe General Info - revised May 15, 2003
Empire Deluxe (ED) is one of the best Play-By-Email (PBEM) computer games available. You can play against the computer, but after a while you need the challenge of a real person.
Empire Deluxe, Copyright 2003 by Mark Kinkead and Killer Bee Software is a 32-bit Windows and Internet upgrade of Empire Deluxe Copyright 1993 by White Wolf Productions, (Mark Baldwin and Bob Rakosky) which is an enhanced version of Empire, Wargame of the Century, Copyright (c) 1978, 1982, 1983, 1984 by Walter Bright and Northwest Software
The 2003 Tournament started before Mark Kinkead's upgrade began, so the tournament uses the White Wolf version (3.11) of the software which was published by New World Computing, which became part of 3DO. 3DO stopped publishing ED long before it became bankrupt, but it can usually be found on ebay for between $30 and $80.
Mark Kinkead's version 3.5 is now available at KillerBee Software.
Walter has a website at http://www.classicempire.com that talks about the history of Empire.
Mark Baldwin has an article about ED at http://mark.baldwin.net/tacgd.htm
