Internet Empire Deluxe PBEM Championships
Why are we running this competition for such an old game? Why do we invest so much of our precious time organising this international event? I can't speak for the other players, but the only reason I can think of is that it is simply fun! :-)
This tournament evolved from the desire to get together with others from all over the world and have fun playing a game we all love. The emphasis has always been on friendly competition, although we have had our share of bad experiences with players who resort to gamesmanship/cheating or are simply inconsiderate. For the most part, many of us have made new friends over the years and have even improved our game by being exposed to some very competent players. Jump to the Trivia & History page for a more detailed account of the evolution of the tourney.
If you find yourself itching to test your mettle against human opposition and are not hell bent on winning at all costs, do consider joining this international community of Empire Deluxe players! :-)
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the past and present players who have assisted me in running this tournament: DAve Bott, Kenn Fagans, Gary Grayson, Tom Stirn, Steve Hartzell, Pete Nickless, Doug Johnson, Mikael Bergman, Mark Kinkead, Dave Howarth, Brian Corbett, Tim Emmerich, Bob Jackson, Tim Roberts, Marc Hanna, Dave Hamric, Jason King. Thanks also to Mikael for starting and maintaining the tourney's first website, and a big thanks to all who have taken part and contributed to the success of this tourney :-).
