Scenarios

A number of people have asked for guidelines on how to do scenarios for the tournament.  When you have completed a scenario you will send it to the Game Coordinator for the round that we use it - that way I can play without the file having been in my possession.

GUIDELINES

The main thing is that the map should be balanced, so that either side have an even chance to win.

It can be wrapped or not. It can be visible or not. It can be mirrored, but does not have to be. It usually starts with 1 city, but it may have 2 or 3. It usually starts without any units, but if you want to try it with units, that's OK.

The map is limited to 200 cities, but that would be excessive.

Another important thing is that I want somewhat the same flavor for both maps that will be used in the round. So you need to be able to describe the scenario to me so that I can make a similar one. An adequate description of the first round map would be hidden and more than one city on the starting land mass.

If the starting city is the only one on a continent it is best to make it a single square so the play does not depend on whether the player decided to explore the continent with ground units.

The production and combat advantages will be set by the game coordinator. We will be using Advt3/Advt3.

REQUIREMENTS

The map should be 60x80 or 80x60.

You will create a scenario - not just a map. Please record the number of cities and other pertinent information (your name at least) in the scenario description.

Player 1 will be the game coordinator. He will be resigning after the first set of turns so his position is not critical.

Players 2 and 3 will be the competitors. It's your scenario - they go where you want them.

Players 4 and 5 will be the AI. They are there to prevent a player from resigning and being allowed to see the whole map. They should be far apart, so that one player could not take both of them. Set the AI cities to 1% efficiency, so that they will never produce anything.
