Jennifer Greenberg Named Co-Rookie of the Year at Sandia Speedway

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Jennifer Greenberg was named co-Rookie of the Year for 2005 at the Sandia Motor Speedway year-end awards banquet. This capped a stellar rookie season that began in July 2005 when Greenberg made her Mini Sprint debut at Sandia after only 16 months of quarter midget racing experience. She immediately showed that she was going to be competitive with a 2nd place finish in her first ever main event. She went on to win 4 heat races in 7 starts, as well as five top-5 finishes in main events on the ¼ mile asphalt track. Although missing several races at the beginning of the season made a run for the points championship impossible, she did have the 3rd best points per race average in the class.

At the conclusion of the asphalt track season, the team converted the car to a dirt track setup and raced at the Hollywood Hills Speedway dirt oval. In her dirt track debut on October 1st, Greenberg came from a 9th place starting position in the 17 car field to finish a strong 3rd. In her second outing a week later she was leading the main event by a wide margin when the engine exploded. Greenberg's final event of the year at Hollywood saw her take a heat race win and put in another strong main event run that was cut short by mechanical failure.

To close out the 2005 season, Greenberg ran a final race at the high-banked, 1/6 mile track at Caplin Speedway. This was again a completely new experience as this track is considerably smaller and tighter than any other track that she had run. In preliminary action, Greenberg won a heat race to make her the only racer to have taken victories this year at all three of the Albuquerque oval tracks where mini-sprint cars compete. Her main event ended when contact with another car late in the race broke her front axle.

Greenberg's performance in 2005 was so strong that her team has a new car on order to race at the largest Mini Sprint race of the year in Tulsa over New Year's weekend. That race will have over 250 competitors in various classes of competition. Jen will take both her current car and her new car and compete in two different classes in order to maximize her driving opportunities. For 2006, her team intends to use her old car exclusively for asphalt races and use the new car exclusively for dirt races. Greenberg noted that "the support that I am getting from Amsoil, Cabinet Concepts, SunCo Equipment & Supply and M&J Signs has really allowed us to take the team to the next level which will gain me even more experience in all types of conditions to prepare for my move up the motorsports career ladder".
