Engine 1 is located in the "Highlands" section of Lynn, Massachusetts USA. It's current assignment consists of  1 Captain, 3 Lieutenants and 12 Firefighters. Engine 1 has been called "The fighting one"  because it's response places it at every fire or major incident on the first or second alarm anywhere within the city and "Two gun one" because old Engine 1 was the only engine in the city with 2 deck guns.

The "Highlands" station also houses the Paramedic Unit (MED1). MED1 is currently staffed by 8 Firefighter/Paramedics.

The station itself (located in a residential neighborhood) was built in 1912 and formerly housed  (horse drawn) Engine 13. During the "cold war" this station was designated a fallout shelter. Remnants of the old survival supplies can still be found it it's cellar.
