The most important tool in the shop.  Woodworking requires a strong, heavy work table that can securely hold the parts in multiple ways. 

For my bench, I designed a surface of 2.5" thick oak with two vises: a shoulder vise and a Record end vise with a dog.   

The bench surface measures 83" x 22".  By removing one acorn nut secures the pinned lower base block, the height can be reduced by 4.25" for easier hand planing.   The height with both blocks is 34.5".   Estimated weight is 200 lbs.
