Technique in Action

Technique is the foundation of my teaching. Good
technique lets you skate better, faster and with more confidence when
executing other hockey skills. Good technique is using deep edges
to execute the various skating skills. Having correct skating
technique under pressure, and without thinking about your feet, is the
ideal. Mastering correct skating technique allows you to do just
that. The photos here show my students in actual game
situations. These skaters were not even aware of their skating;
they were too involved in the moment of playing the game. That is
why my teaching stresses technique that is needed to “skate the
game.”
A great big thanks to my students who have shared their pictures of game playing moments that
demonstrate great skating!
