1,000 Islands, Ontario Canada

As children our favorite times were the days we spent fishing and turtle hunting at Rice Lake, Ontario. Having imprinted on the northern freshwater lakes & rivers, we searched for something similar. We found such a spot in the 1,000 Islands of the Saint Lawrence River and for close to 20 years, Karen & I vacationed there with Sara, Josh, and our English Springer Spaniel, Lilith

The 1,000 Islands simply gorgeous as this panoramic shot shows.

The Glen House is a beautiful place to stay.

We usually rent an 18', 180 h.p. runabout for fishing and recreation.

For the young at heart there's boating, fishing, & playing in the sand.

For others, there's shuffleboard

Unfortunately, Josh & Dana couldn't join us this particular year as Josh was doing (almost) lawyer-stuff

But here's a collage of a year where both Josh and Dana did join us. As you can see, Josh caught one of the larger fish that year.

The zebra mussels have seriously damaged the pike fishery but there are still  pike and plenty of bass and panfish.  There was some hint this year that the pike fishery might be starting to recover. Let's hope so.
