The Mill Creek Boys

 

The group had its beginnings during the 1998 festival season in Pennsylvania when Brett and Don became acquainted and began playing together in the back-up band of a local performer. The Mill Creek Boys have performed at the Winterfest, the Appalachian Fiddle and Bluegrass Association's festival (Wind Gap), the Pocono Mountains Bluegrass Festival, the Out Among the Starts (OATS) Bluegrass Festival), the 4 Sisters Winery, and the Big Apple bluegrass festivals as well as the Sullivan County Fair,  and numerous other festivals private venues.  

Band Biographies

Brett Mowrey is the founder and moving force behind The Mill Creek Boys. His home is in Sybertsville, Pennsylvania where he is the sole proprietor of a fire apparatus sales and repair business.  He has been playing guitar and singing for the past thirty-five years during which time his musical interests have included rock and country as well as bluegrass.  In addition to lead singing and playing lead and rhythm guitar, Brett is proficient playing upright bass and has written several songs which are currently in The Mill Creek Boys’ repertoire.

Ed Pollak holds a Ph.D. in biological psychology and is a professor of psychology at  West Chester University near Philadelphia.  While classically trained on the trumpet, "Doc" has been playing bluegrass music for over 35 years, first on the 5-string banjo and bass, and for the past 16 years, bluegrass fiddle. Ed plays regularly with several area bands and has done recording work with several local folk and country groups.

Brendan Skwire is a multi-instrumentalist, a song writer, and a talented vocalist. He has had many years of experience playing guitar, upright bass, and electric bass in bluegrass, rock, and even heavy metal bands. Aas the newest member of the band, Brendan's irrepressible energy and "patter' adds a new  element to the band's stage shows and his lead and harmony vocals round out our sound. 

Michele Green is a professional artist living in Delaware.  In addition to her many awards and honors, Michele has been named the official artist for the Delaware State Parks. Playing banjo for only 8 years, Michele has achieved an impressive mastery of the intrument.   

 

Pete Pappalardo grew up in Shawnee-on-Delaware, an address he shared with the likes of Mr. Greenjeans, Jackie Gleason and Keith Jarrett.  He has been playing acoustic music since the 70's, first on guitar, then stand-up bass, now mandolin.  He was  a co-founder of The Cold Springs Band, a long time Lost Rambler, and author of two novels, Bluegrass and The Compleat Dartshooter.  He enjoys his temporary job of 24 years, which is teaching high school seniors not to dangle their participles.
