You may work on these projects by yourself or in pairs (no more than 2 people, please)
You most be scrupulous in citing all work you consulted. This is mandatory to avoid accusations of plagiarism. Use the APA format.
Email me a project proposal by 13 October 3:30 pm indicating which option you will select and which websites or film you will evaluate.
Final draft due 22 October, 5:30 pm, no exceptions.
Format
Three to four pages, typed, 12 points, double-space, proofread, your best writing
You should compare 2 websites (Option A) or 1 film (Option B)
You should briefly describe the plot of the film or the content of the websites.
You examine the website or film based on the following:
How realistic or accurate is the information depicted?
Are there any strong or subtle stereotypes used in the film or in the websites?
Would the very old be able to follow the film’s plot or navigate the website?
How can the film or website be improved?
How would you use the film or website in a program or therapy? Discuss questions you would ask of your clients or program participants.
Identify a 5 minute segment in the film or 1 or 2 particular page in your websites to show your audience in order to illustrate a strength or weakness of the film or websites.
Note: We will have a presentation on 8 October that will help you analyze the ease of use and accuracy of websites.
Grading
Consult the SOAS writing standards in the syllabus. A = 30 points, B = 25 points, C = 20 points, D = 15 points, F = 10 points. I rarely use - and + in grading writing.
Option A: Comparing Websites. Select ONE of the following:
What are the best websites to understand sexuality in older adults?
What are the best websites to refer caregivers of Alzeimer’s patients to?
What are the best websites for older adults who are depressed?

Option B: Films on Aging as “Cine-therapy”
Which one film is best to help your client or program participant some aspect of aging (e.g. caring for an ill spouse, handling marriage problems, “challenging” the physical decline in aging, etc.)
Be sure you identify a segment of the film that is NO more than 5 minutes long.
