DEFEATS ABERRANT MONSTROSITY WITH A PAIR OF EIGHTS
Our
lives are great labyrinths filled with treasures and monsters. A
monster is any trial you face; sickness, addiction, financial concerns,
family problems, power struggles, discrimination, living with some
kind of fear or uncertainty… there’s always another monster waiting
for us around the next dark corner, often worse than the previous.
Better than any sword, axe or bow, your best weapon is attitude.
One cannot properly confront a monster by hiding from it or rejecting
it. A monster, when affirmed, acknowledged, explored, tested, and
proven for its intent and merit, is an evil that can be defeated.
Fear confronted is a fear stripped of its power. With faith, hope,
love, and just a little bit of courage, our monsters can never truly
get the upper hand, even when the outcome seems most grim. As Paul
writes in Romans 8, “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors
through him who loved us.”
