"Send me on my way..."

It's Wednesday morning. We had a heat wave come through the beautiful northwest, but I think it has passed, since a tank top would have left me just a little too chilly today. I'm "getting over the hump" during the second and last week of training. I always love training because it's very relaxed. There's not terribly much to learn for those of us moving from the call center to the sales division. We know just about everything there is to know about the products and services that the bank offers and are very familiar with the software programs. I remember how the onslaught of new information had me on edge when I first started here (about a year ago), and so I have the utmost respect for my team mates new to the company and those moving from the branches to the telephone sales. There are sixteen of us and God only know how long we'll be working together. Angela, our trainer, calls us pioneers, since are the first Target Sales Team (TST) based in the state of Washington. For the first week on the floor we will have some of the top TST bankers from San Antonio making the rounds and helping us out, but after that we will have to be self-sufficient; no one else within the company will be using the same software. Training is a nice reprieve from the work I was doing in the call center. I'm really excited to see what sales is like, and I've already developed a taste for it. I love making a sale and, of course, I really do believe in the product.

Besides a lot of review for the benefit of those new to the company, we're doing some role-playing and learning some sales models. I was thinking about it last night. I think I've only really just started to realize how different this job is going to be. I was under the illusion that my new job would be similar simply because I wasn't leaving the company.
