I WANT BED!!!
Tuesday, October 20, 2009

I knew it was coming, this tired feeling. All I want to do is close my eyes here at my desk but I can’t. I’m on camera. I had prepared myself for this, knowing that I would be out late with my girlfriends last night. I only looked at my watch once the entire evening, and didn’t get to bed until about midnight, which for some is normal but I’ve been disciplining myself to be in bed by 10pm on weeknights and my 30-year-old body has been thanking me.

I somehow willed myself out of bed this morning, leaning against the headboard until my vertigo wore off and then stumbling to the kitchen to put on some coffee. We’re out of hazelnut coffee. It was that gross Columbian stuff but on mornings like this I drink coffee out of sheer necessity and couldn’t care less about the ritual. The only thing worse is bank coffee, and I’m on my third cup now. I packed two Diet Cokes for later, and the highlight of this workday will be my leftover gyro from last night. It’s calling my name from the fridge in the back.

Truthfully, work hasn’t been at all bad this week. It’s been slow and steady, plus I won the bobble head trophy for bean bag foot football on Monday. I already lost it but I get to be in the playoffs now.

Last night was a special night. Alayna and I took Megan out on the town to celebrate her birthday. I don’t know if Greek food and dessert at a chocolateria would qualify as “out on the town”, but we covered Queen Anne, Phinney Ridge, downtown Seattle and Capitol Hill in our quest for palette perfection, even if we only made two stops. If you count the hellish commute you could also include Bellevue, Mercer Island and Edmonds in that list.
