We don’t distance ourselves from the puppies because we really feel they need all that affection, although it does make it much more difficult on us to see them leave. The new owners most often keep us updated with pictures, and information on their progress and we periodically send out gifts to the puppies. We provide lots of love and attention, socialization, high quality foods, playtime inside and outside, start potty training and medical care to include removal of dew claws, and 1st round of shots so they grow into healthy, well adjusted, excellent quality, AKC Havanese Dogs.

This Comcast page is mostly informative and our FB page is for post, recommendations, comments and lots and lots of pictures. Contact us if you should need more information.
We don’t kennel or cage our dogs ever. We put our dogs and puppies first and foremost. We don’t put emphasis on monetary costs. We provide the same level of care, love and attention to the puppies as we do our adult dogs and we never skimp on them to save a few bucks or make extra. We feed our dogs and puppies 5 star Merrick dog foods and supplement the adult dogs diet with fresh cooked beef liver mixed in with their daily dry and moist food. This isn’t necessary or even good for the puppies so we keep them on the dry Merrick puppy formula. We supplement the pregnant Dam's diet with daily vitamins and other high protein treats and foods. Additionally, of our dogs get high quality treats that include real meat, teeth cleaning bonies, raw hides, lots of chewy toys, etc. We provide the puppy’s healthy toys and treats as age appropriate and recommended.
We provide a good amount of attention to our dogs and puppies. We take our dogs out each day or evening. We take them with us whenever possible and often bring them to the beach, hiking, camping, on family trips, etc. We go out of our way to find accommodations that will allow all of our dogs to go with us on family trips or on the rare occasion that we don't, we have someone stay back with them and care for them for the day or short stay we are gone. Whenever we bring them along, they are very well behaved. We've traveled across the country with them and stayed in many hotels, homes, campers, etc. We’ve taken them along with us on almost every trip we have taken. It’s a choice and they are like our kids so we don’t like to leave them behind. They are great traveling dogs.
We spend a good deal of time with the puppies as well. When they are old enough, we allow them to go out into our fenced back yard and have supervised playtime. They are all very well cared for to help bring them up in a solid, stable, loving environment to raise a healthy, well behaved, confident, happy, and loving dog.
All of our dogs and the puppies remain a part of our family, even after the puppy has gone with his/her new owner. They remain in our hearts and we try to stay in contact with the owner. We enjoy hearing from the owners with pictures, comments and updates. We’ve even sent out puppy gifts after the puppies are gone with the new owners. It’s a good way to stay in contact and a part of their lives. We get so much joy by bringing a well-bred puppy into this world and hearing from our owners how much the puppy has positively impacted their lives. As far as our adult dogs, we value them more than any amount of money and we wouldn’t sacrifice their health, happiness or safety. We would not consider selling a dog after it is retired and no longer breeding, as is often done in the breeding business. No amount of money would be compensation for our dogs. They are 1st and foremost, our loving pets
We've received excellent reviews. Please see link on the side of this page or go to our FB page, to see the posts, comments and picture updates from some of our past buyers. We try to keep in touch with our owners and greatly enjoy hearing how much the puppies have enriched the owner’s lives and receiving updates from them. We occasionally send out gifts to our wonderful owners.
What we provide to our Dogs and Puppies:
We ensure the Dam is extremely healthy, exercised and fed well enough to successfully birth and nurse the entire litter. We are also very involved in the birthing and care of the puppies. The Dam has complete faith and trust in our care and allows us in the whelping area, and to handle the puppies, although she does always keep an eye on her pups. We are involved in the entire birthing process with the Dam. For the birthing, we set up a nice quiet area of the house for the whelping bed so that the Dam feels comfortable and safe. We assist with the entire birthing process for as long as it takes. We’ve even slept in the whelping area to make sure that we are right there to assist with the birth of each puppy. This can sometimes take many hours to complete the process. We assist with the birthing process to ensure each puppy comes out of the canal, is breathing, weighed, examined, put on the Dam to feed, birth and pup’s documented, and ensure the Dam is also healthy and accepting each puppy. We’ve never lost a puppy during or after the birth. Neither has a Dam ever neglected caring or nursing any puppy or litter. After birth, we weigh each puppy and continue to weight and monitor their health in the coming days. We take them all to the Vet when they are 3 days of age, for a healthy exam and removal of dew claws. We continue to assist the Dam by hand feeding her for the next couple of weeks to ensure that she is getting the necessary nutrition. We provide her lots of attention and care for her after the birth so that she feels special and so she doesn't neglect her own needs. We give her extra high protein foods and ice cream.
We begin potty training with indoor reusable puppy pads and utilizing the Misty Trails Method of Potty Training at a very early age. Although, this is a good method of indoor training, the success rate for which any particular litter obtains varies. We don’t promise that the puppies will be potty trained by the 8th week, in fact, it’s unlikely they will be. They should be familiar with the process and make it easier to train each puppy once it’s with the new owner. It’s more difficult to train the puppies in greater numbers because when one puppy messes up, the others follow very quickly. We work very hard to clean up the messes fast so that the puppies follow the system but even in doing so, the puppies will likely be only partially trained on the pad when they arrive at your home. It will be the responsibility of the new owner to complete potty train the puppy to the pad or outdoors or both. One should not expect an 8 week old puppy to be potty trained, although, we’ve had some that were nearly completely trained.
Its instinct for the Dam to actually clean the den/whelping box/pups. We clean and change out linens and puppy pads to help the area stay clean and try to prevent the pups from picking up on bad habits like eating each other’s feces. They will easily pick up this habit if the feces are left in the area for long and as they grow older, they will definitely attempt to eat it. The only thing that can be done is to be diligent in cleaning the messes as they happen and watching them after they go bathroom, so to gently reprimand them if they try to eat it. I’ve seen and heard of many puppies having this habit when they are adopted from other breeders so it’s a habit that is easier to prevent than break. The puppies will likely still try to do this when they are young, so the new owner should keep up the practices to prevent this from becoming a habit.
We provide the pups the best foods, lots of stimulation and attention. We build a consistent report with the puppies. We begin handling them at an early age to help with early socialization and continue this process until they leave our home. We spend a good amount of time handling them and exposing them to different people, pets and things inside our home and in our yard to help them feel comfortable with things that are not familiar and establish a more stable and secure puppy. We provide the puppies lots of playtime and attention. We try to let them go outside for supervised play times in our covered back fenced area, when it’s age appropriate and weather permitting. They really enjoy playing outside and it's super adorable to see them running outside, one by one, through the open puppy screen door. They have a blast outside but it may be too cold for them to have too much playtime outside with a litter in the Fall. Hopefully, they will still have a chance to frequently play outside. Whenever they are in our fenced in back yard, one of us is always with them so that a wild animal, like Hawk or Eagle, doesn’t fly down and pick one of them up or they don’t otherwise get hurt. Weather permitting, we put the little kiddie pool outside for them to fetch a ball from, give them a little bath and just experience the water. We continue exposing them to the people, pets and things in our house. This helps them learn to be more comfortable with foreign situations, less anxious and aggressive as they grow into adult dogs. We work hard to provide the puppies a harmonious and stable and loving foundation, to provide them a good start in life, without any emotional scars or disabilities. This makes for a better-rounded puppy.
Keep Stimulated with Toys and Chewees: We always provide them a good variety and plenty of toys and chew things so they don’t get bored and get into the habit of chewing on other things like shoes, furniture, etc. It’s necessary to always provide ample toys and chew toys so that the puppies don’t get bored or when teething, get into the habit of chewing on shoes or furniture. We’ve actually never had any of our things chewed up in this way. We provide a good variety of these healthy chewees and toys so they keep stimulated.
Excellent Quality Puppies:
We mate to make well behaved, healthy, high quality AKC Champion Bloodline puppies. We will only breed the Dam and Sire if the dogs are healthy with vaccinations with passed health and suitability medical exams by the Veterinarian. We’ve produced some extremely well behaved, healthy, happy puppies. They have very good physical traits and no identified or suspected congenital diseases passed down.
We provide our puppies the best food options and medical care. They are brought to the Vet at 3 days of age to get an exam and dew claws removed. They go back to the Vet for their 1st set of shots, nails clipped, de-worming.
We don't transfer breeding rights with purchase of the puppy and do require each to be spayed / neutered around the age of 6 months old or as recommended by their Vet. Since, the pups must be spayed / neutered then they are not able to compete in Conformation dog shows as these are merely for evaluating breeding stock. We work hard to provide puppies that are excellent quality physical, health and temperament so to enrich the owner’s lives and provide a long life of love and companionship.
Not all breeds of dogs are the same; nor are all dogs within that breed the same. The quality of dog and how it was raised makes a huge difference in the traits that the puppy will develop when they grow into a full grown dog.
While Havanese dogs are an excellent breed of dog, the manner in which they are raised and their genetics can often make the difference between getting a well behaved, loving, most postive addition to your family that brings happiness and joy with along with him or her, versus you getting an ill, aggressive or misbehaved dog, that can cause lots of chaos, costly expenses and heartache.
Inferior Quality/Neglected or Traumatized Pets:
You may save money up front by buying a less expensive puppy or one that was in a shelter but this may often cost you more in the long run. Be mindful of how much commitment this might take. In some situations where the dog was abused or not bred correctly, can result in a dog that has physical, mental or other traits that require more commitment, knowledge, and training. These dogs could end up costing thousands in vet bills and a lot of heartache. I’ve actually sold to 2 owners with similar previous situations and they spent a considerable amount of money (thousands) on a puppy, only to eventually have to give it up. This is traumatizing on not only the dog but also the family and children that tried everything. The children were then traumatized and now fearful of dogs. They even bought a Havanese but just from the wrong breeder. I sold puppies to them and the puppies transitioned into their home harmoniously. No problems at all. They are the children’s best friends. They are healthy and well behaved.
Expectations: Puppies are like small children. They need patience, love and the environment to be a puppy. We don’t want to sell our puppies to owners who have unrealistic expectations and don’t want to take the effort or patience to allow a puppy to be a puppy, and make mistakes.
Providing Excellent Puppies our Way: We don’t go by the book for everything. We go by experience, the line and what appears to work the best for our puppies. We give the best foods, lots of love and socialization, care to our adult dogs and follow up with the lines that are sold to make sure they are healthy and doing well. I know our puppies are great. I’ve seen the lines and experienced them 1st hand and I highly believe they are excellent quality but we feel the most important steps is to ensure our dogs are healthy and happy and the puppies are raised in a similar, caring and loving manner. We’ve had very good experience with our buyers who have done exactly this and are extremely satisfied and grateful, as we are to them. A good quality puppy, raised in a good environment can make a wonderful pet and have a positive influence on the overall dynamics and harmony of the home. We have sold to a variety of people such as elderly as therapy dogs, a young family with children and no familiarity to other pets, a family with a negative situation with previous pets or animals, and young adults who are very physically active, and more. All of the puppies are in stable and loving homes and I’ve been told repeatedly how much they are a very valued member of the household. They wouldn’t give them up for anything. We’ve even sold to repeat 3 repeat buyers and could have sold more to them and their friends as we were also recommended but we didn’t have puppies available .
The Havanese Breed & Traits:
When you consider a Havanese, you are considering one of the BEST BREEDS! The breed is non-shedding and so it's perfect for allergy sufferers. They are also great to use as a therapy or service type dog. Havanese are smaller dogs but not tiny, miniature dogs. They are extremely healthy with little known congenital problems and average lifespan is 14-17 years. The weight of this breed is slightly increasing and the average weight is now about 12-16 pounds. Fewer of the breed, weigh about 10-21 pounds. I estimate puppies from this litter to be about 12-15 pounds but that’s an early estimate based merely on the weight of the parents. It will be easier to determine the weight and size of the puppies after birth.
Keep in Mind that the color of the Havanese fur is often known to change! This is not certain but it does often happen most often with the very dark brown and sometimes black puppies but it can happen with other colors as well. It will sometimes change drastically and can turn into even more beautiful coloring. Research this further if you are interested as this is a whole science subject
Application for Puppy:
If you are interested in a puppy, then I ask you to complete a puppy questionnaire form or call me with the information. It’s important to talk to prospective buyers. We ask some questions to try and ensure suitability and see what your preferences are. We have provided a puppy questionnaire form on the link to the left. You can fill that out and send a copy to me in email or phone me with details. Information will be kept private and I won’t use it for any purpose other than to determine suitability and preference in a puppy. After reviewing the information, I will let you know if we have a puppy available for you and negotiate the sale of the puppy. Deposit is required to hold a puppy.
Some prospective buyers will check around, and then come back, only to find out that all the puppies are spoken for. I've had some very disappointed prospective buyers. This has happened even when we have had 3 or 4 puppies available at the time of inquiry. The puppies will often sell all at once so please keep this in mind if you are considering purchasing from us. We've included a copy/template of the health guarantee and the purchase contract on links located at the left side of this page.
Deposit, Balance and Payment Options:
(Special Early Reserve Price of $1350 otherwise, price goes to $1450 after birth.)
· Deposit Required: $500 Non-refundable
· $850 remaining balance due upon pickup
Please discuss options to pay the deposit and remaining balance so that both parties feel comfortable with the payment options and the balance is paid by or upon the date of pickup.
Payment thru Paypal : Preferred Method of Payment. $500 Deposit Paypal payment accepted. Balance Due Paypal Accepted = Since Paypal charges the business receiver a fee to accept payments, we ask that if the buyer wishes to make the remaining balance payment through this method of payment, that they include $25 for the fees that will be deducted from our payment.
We will accept the remaining balance paid in cash, upon time of pickup, with a written bill of sale, health guarantee/contract and puppy provided to the buyer at that time.
We may accept a check for either deposit or remaining balance. Please discuss this option with us prior to the payment. When paying by check for the deposit payment, we will hold your spot on the list for up to 3 days if you pre arrange this with us. With prior approval, we may also accept a check for remaining balance but the check must have cleared by the time the puppy is picked up.
We may also facilitate a transfer from your bank to our bank, for the remaining balance due. I see that many banks are doing bank to bank transfers although I’ve not used this option on many occasions and would have to look into it and possibly set up my account to receive the payment, however, it may be an option for payment.
Choosing a Puppy”
Appointment for Viewings: For those on the Reserve list, we will set aside a weekend for viewings. We will set up times for the buyers, beginning with #1 on the list, to come out and view and interact with the puppies. We will schedule them at least 1 hour apart, and allow ½ hour viewing times, so that the puppies don’t get overly tired. We don’t want the puppies to get sick, so we ask that buyers don’t come with anyone that is sick or bring their other pets. The date and time is to be determined. In past, we’ve made the viewing available after the pups turned 6 weeks old and had their 1st set of shots. We will make every effort to notify the buyers with ample advance notice of the viewing times. We can only continue to allow the buyers to make the determination of what puppy they choose if they notify us of the puppy they choose at the time required, otherwise, it will hold up all the other sales and we will have to pick for the buyer and not be able to offer this service again in the future. We’ve had people on a list like this for the past 2 litters and it worked well. Most breeders simply choose the puppy for the buyer as it’s a much easier system and no home visits. We like to continue to offer this service so the buyer is able to interact with the puppies and have a say about which they choose. Of course, the buyers always ask about the puppy’s traits and characteristics when considering a pick and we provide all the information we can to help ensure a good match.
Buyer or Seller Choosing the Puppy: We recommend the buyer come to view the puppies in person on the 1st viewing, after week 5-7. If that isn’t possible, then we will happily use the information we have about the puppy and the family to choose a puppy for that family. We will also provide pictures and information online for the buyer’s enjoyment. We like to give the buyer the opportunity to pick their choice of puppy, but in the very rare case, where we feel that a puppy would not be compatible with a family, then we do retain the right to override the buyer’s choice about a particular puppy. We don’t anticipate that this will happen however, our highest concern is to the current and future health and well-being of our dogs.
We offer all our puppies with a 3 day Healthy Puppy Guarantee, and 3 year guarantee against specific Congenital Health Conditions both as outlined in Health Contract provided upon pickup and info on link to left (Vet exam required within 3 days after arriving home), Copy of Vet Records including Exams and Shots, Dew Claws Removed, and a Puppy Gift Pack with a Comforting Toy to transition home with. Health Guarantee is outlined on link to left and copy will be provided upon pickup of puppy. AKC Limited Registration doesn’t include breeding rights and warranties are not transferrable.
Puppies will be available to go to new owner's house at 8 weeks of age. Date will be figured according to 8 weeks after the birth of the puppies and scheduled for the week following the birth. We anticipate next birth to be around mid September so they will be ready to go home around mid November or so. This is merely approximate dates and the actual dates will be calculated based on the actual birth dates and information updated online. We ask that the puppy be picked up that week unless other arrangements are arranged with us, prior to purchase. We have other obligations that prevent us from offerring extended care plus the puppies get too attached to us/visa versa.
If we do agree or have to otherwise provide extended care, then we may charge the buyer with a nominal daily sitting fee for our time and the extra expenses we incur for the 2nd set of shots, food/toys, etc. The going rate for watching a full grown dog averages about $25-$30 a day. We reserve the right to charge a nominal fee of $10 day fee, if we are required to keep the puppy beyond the extended pickup date. This only applies to all of those who purchase prior to the 1st day of 8th week. For any person who makes a purchase of a puppy after the 8th week, then we will allow 1 week to arrange pickup if necessary.
If you are unable to pick up by the arranged pickup date, then please notify us of this asap, so that we can discuss any options. Any change to the terms must be put in writing and agreed upon by both Buyer and Seller. Failure to make other arrangements agreeable by both parties and put in writing, with regards to late pickup/extended care or non-payment in full, may at our discretion, result in termination of the contract and forfeit of any monies paid.
We discourage shipping a puppy Cargo method. This method of shipping is not recommended for a young puppy. We will consider requests on a case by case basis, although, we will not approve it when the conditions are unsafe for the puppy. i.e. Shipping a puppy to Texas in the middle of Summer. We will not sell a puppy when we believe that the puppy will not be shipped appropriately. The Cargo section of the plane gets very hot and the planes are often left on the runway for hours. The puppies are then brought to a room and often left there for extended periods of time, until someone picks them up. We suggest that if you are purchasing a puppy from out of state, then you fly here and bring puppy back on plane with you. The puppy would be eligible. Airlines allow this for a charge. You can fly with the puppy under the front seat. We will assist in shipping. All costs associated with shipping a puppy, is the responsibility of the owner. Contact us for details on shipping options.
I’ve listed a long list of recommendations for picking up your puppy, travel home and welcoming home. Please refer to the link on the left side of this page. You may want to send us a toy or blanket of some sort so that the puppy can become familiar with it prior to you coming to pick him/her up. We will put the item in the area with the puppies and then you take it home with you after you pick up the puppy. We will also provide each buyer with an item that has been in our home to take home with them. This makes the puppy feel more comfortable so the transition will be smoother. We also provide a Puppy Gift Pack of some very cool gift items to get you started. When picking your puppy up, please bring a box or crate, old towels and a blanket. I would suggest coming with a driver and rider so that the rider. If you don’t have a rider, then you should definitely bring something to put the puppy in. Line the crate or box with an old towel or place a towel over the rider’s lap, as the puppy will normally get sick during the drive home.
Ensure you have purchased the items that the puppy will need once it gets home. They will need a list of items, including, water and food bowl, toys, dog bones for teeth cleaning and chewing, toothbrush and toothpaste, slicker brush and/or stainless steel comb, quality shampoo/conditioner, sleeping area such as a mat, bed, kennel or crate, quality food dry and/or moist (stick with the same brand we use or gradually change brands so not to get the puppy sick). We currently feed the adult dog Merrick Moist and Dry Dog foods mixed with fresh cooked beef liver. We feed the puppies 5 Star Merrick puppy food, dry and moistened with water to prevent them from becoming accustomed to the moist foods because many buyers choose to feed them dry.Pictures of some of our dogs and past puppies:
