Evelyn Johnson, lyric soprano, is a graduate of Indiana
University School of Music, having completed her Masters studies there in 1995. While at
Indiana, she performed La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi and Celie in Signor Deluso,
as well as numerous recitals and concerts. After graduating from Indiana
University, she completed an apprenticeship with Dorian Opera Theatre in Decorah, Iowa,
where she covered the role of Mimi in their mainstage production of La Boheme, and
portrayed Donna Elvira in excerpts from Don Giovanni. In 1999, Ms. Johnson was a
semi-finalist in the Bel Canto Foundation Italitan Opera Competition in Chicago. More
recently, she has performed frequently with the Indianapolis Opera and as operatic soloist
for LOpera Ristorante in Noblesville, Indiana. Ms. Johnsons most recent
performances include Glitter & Glamour Opera Gala and Hanna in The Merry
Widow with Central Florida Lyric Opera, a role in which she was coached by Mme. Licia
Albanese. In January, she will perform as soloist for the Rutter Requiem with the
Greenfield Community Choir in Indianapolis. |
