Martin Luther

Martin Luther

Martin Luther was a monk living in Italy who had many anti-Catholic ideas. Because he was being persecuted, he fled to The Holy Roman Empire. Peasants in The Holy Roman Empire read his books on Lutheranism and many agreed with him. The Lutheran peasants revolted against the Catholic Church. The Holy Roman Empire/Church suppressed the revolt. Tens of thousands of Lutheran peasants died. The Catholic Church forgot that Lutherans were human when they oppressed them.
