The Trail of Tears

The Trail of Tears was a genocidal death march put upon the Cherokee people by the United States.  Of the 25,000 people who were forced to move about 8,000 died along the harsh journey.  By late 1838 the former Cherokee nation had been moved to where Arkansas and Nebraska are today.
