Since the earliest invasion of Africa by white men the African people have been subjugated to extreme acts of inhumanity, including the infamous Atlantic triangle slave trade. Slaves were bought by English merchant shippers at the western African coast, shipped to the United States among terrible, cramped conditions on small ships that carried hundreds more people than they were designed to hold. Slaves were chained to large wooden boards and were stacked upon each other: they stayed in these arrangements for the entire trip to the Thirteen Colonies, without any access to water, bathrooms and food. Hundreds died on the journeys, and they were then sold to slave owners in the Colonies.
