History:

Here are shots of my very first CB400f. Low mileage and pristine with only 1174 miles (about 700 when I bought it)!

Unfortunately, I didn’t know any better and I parted it out. I know, I know – bad move. I have this tendency to want to customize. I really should have started out with a beater. I did keep the motor, speedo (only 1174 miles!) and the frame.

7-30-02:  At the 2002 Mid-Ohio Vintage Days, I scored two junkyard dogs. One of the frames was good enough to powder-coat. That one was supposed to be a stock restoration. It quickly became a café bike.

8-24-02: Here is the original OMT/Kaz Yoshima exhaust as I got it:

The bad part was I had to buy the whole bike just to get it....  The good part was that it had rare Lester wheels and a

motor with a Yoshimura 458 piston kit!!  The bad part is that one piston is shot....  At least I have 4 nice paperweights!

2-15-03: Progress has started on newly powdercoated frame:

It now has new tapered steering stem bearings, the swingarm with new shock bushings, NOS Konis, VF500f triple clamps with custom sleeves and the CB550f fork tubes.  Also, I've started to route the harness, the battery box and some electric parts.  Note:  the frame is mounted on my new motorcycle floor jack / work stand.  As much as possible, I replaced standard bolts with either plated or stainless versions.
