Washi Egg Gourds
Washi is a fine, hand-made paper of Japan traditionally used in decorative arts since the 17th century.
A gift of washi art symbolizes a wish for long life and good fortune.
These gourd eggs average 3" in height. Larger than chicken eggs, they provide a bigger canvas for
their beautiful block printed designs. Eggs are weighted with sand for stability and completed with a
glassy finish of traditional Japanese laquer.
These delightful, richly decorative gourds make wonderful unique gifts.
I am happy to insert a small, gold toned eye screw if you prefer
a hanging ornament.
Beaded Spirit Bowls
My little beaded gourd bowls are inspired by the Huichol Indians
of Mexico who traditionally created beaded bowls as offerings to
the Gods or containers for good spirits.
Gourd size is approximately 2 1/4" high x 4" dia.
I create my designs inlaying small glass beads into a beeswax
mixture. The outside is finished in a glossy polyurethane and
signed by me at the bottom.
These bowls are intended to be purely decorative. Take care not
to place them in overly warm or sunny displays. They are easily
cleaned with a soft cloth or a swish in cool, soapy water, if
necessary.
Bird Egg Gourds
What better theme for eggs than birds?
These decorative egg gourds are approximately 3 1/2" high. Each is pyroengraved and delicately
colored with acrylic glazes protected with a semigloss polyurethane finish. On the reverse side I
have identified the bird and signed my work. Each gourd is unique.
I am happy to take orders for the bird of your choice.
