Delicious Dyes is a clothing company run by a raw vegan college student. As a raw vegan, I eat only uncooked food that comes directly from the earth, such as fruits, vegetables, nuts and grains. I eat this way because I care about my body and I care about the health of our planet! I also care about the people I love, and I want to provide them with the best me that I can be. So naturally, I sought better clothing for myself, clothing that would help the environment and that I would feel good about having next to my skin. However, I soon found that most of our clothing is grown from crops heavily sprayed with pesticides. These crops are then bleached and treated with many other chemicals to give them color and softness. To become fabric and clothes, the crops are harvested, treated, and sewn by many underpaid laborers in sweat shops. Yuck! I believe that clothing should be as delightful, colorful, and beautiful as an organically grown apple. I began to buy unbleached, organically grown cotton clothes, and I learned to dye them using natural ingredients such as turmeric, annatto seed, blackberries, cranberries, soil, and birch bark. These dyes are not only natural and good for the environment, but lovely to look at! The earthy colors of natural dyes complement any skin tone. To save you, my valued customers, the trouble of learning the ancient techniques of dying naturally, and to offer you a better solution to modern clothing, I have created Delicious Dyes. What is Delicious Dyes all About?Delicious dyes is all about sustainability, environmentalism, and beautiful clothing! All of our clothing is made in the U.S.A. from natural organically grown fibers. It is then dyed by hand with plants, not chemicals. The cotton shirt below was dyed yellow with turmeric, an Indian spice. The clothing can be washed by machine or by hand in cold water with like colors. It should be line dried. Delicious Dyes wants to you to enjoy non-toxic, environmentally conscious clothing. I, Raw Strength, make my own dyes, order unbleached organic cotton clothing, and dye the clothes myself. By supporting Delicious Dyes you are supporting a raw vegan college student, your health, and the health of our planet. Delicious Dyes will begin selling clothes in November, 2008.
