Major Web Site Updates

July 2008

Decorative Alphabet Letter I volunteered Heatherway Shelties as a demonstration review website for O.N.Z.C.D.A Site of the Decade which was to acquaint the judging staff involved in the site of the decade, with the criteria rubric. A number of objective recommendations were suggested and I implemented the following in July 2008.

Lacking in Appeal and Page Design:  Yes the presentation was simple and perhaps bland.  So I added a CSS option for backgrounds and decorative lettering, used decorative lettering for page paragraph leads and selected backgrounds which will be used in rotation possibly each month.

Updating is Stale:  Several months had elapsed since updating, so a complete update was completed in July 2008.

Decorative Alphabet Letter The website design to your left was based upon Eric Myer's pure CSS menu system. There was a floating image of my wife at an obedience dog trial with Star having won a blue ribbon and not in the picture was Star's grandfather Chase.

My wife had a presence at GeoCities in 1998, but only did occasional updating and had lost interest because of other activities, especially with our six Shetland Sheepdogs and participation in dog trials.

But as the shelties began to earn titles, her interest was rekindled and Heatherway Shelties was moved from GeoCities to Comcast and this design was a new and exciting new look for her which was placed online in 2004. Basically the only difference was in the left side navigation, rather than top loading.

The new design is what she had really wanted in the first place, so when she asked for help in making final changes which included checking for W3C, WAI and WDG errors, link checking and tinkering with the CSS, I was pleased to help, but left the major work to her. The new design was started on September 14, 2006 and was completed in October, 2006.

January 2007

A site map was added, links checked, new award design sent to honorees, title attribute assigned to all graphics and title attribute assigned to all internal and external links.

My phase two portion of the award program was replaced on January 18, 2007

Phase Two

My children and myself will insure that our selections have visual appeal, exemplary content, graphics which compliment the design, overall spatial demonstration and equality to our benchmark. Considerations shown below were incorporated into the new design and narrative.
