Sacred Heart
Cultural Center
1301 Greene Street, corner of 13th (706-826-4700). Notable for its
Romanesque Revival architectural style, twin spires, stained glass windows from Germany
and 15 distinctive styles of brickwork. this former Catholic church, constructed between
1898 and 1900 was restored in 1987 to become a community cultural center. Open for tours
and community events. A gift shop features the works for sale by artists and authors of
the region. The adjoining Rectory houses the offices of community arts organizations
including the Augusta Ballet, Augusta Opera, Augusta Choral Society, Augusta Symphony,
Augusta Players and the Grater Augusta Arts Council. Monday-Saturday, 10:00 to 4:00.
