Riverwalk
Augusta
Located on the banks of the Savannah River in downtown
Augusta. Riverwalk's main entrance is located at Eighth and Reynolds. It was the river
that first brought European settlers to Augusta, founded in 1736 by General James
Oglethorpe. The Savannah River was the city's commercial lifeline, heavily traveled
transporting agricultural products 200 miles to the seaport of Savannah, Georgia.
