Great Northern GP-9 704 Sporting BN number 1777.
Location: Klamath Falls Oregon. June 1970.
Idling before the engine house after a run from Lookout California. This is engine was the first prototype GN Blue I came across. It and sister GN #700 were pumping up air in Lookout CA. They were getting ready for their return with a small freight to Klamath Falls to tie up out of Biebler, CA.

Location: Spokane, Washington. July 18, 1970.
This three year old switcher was working hard most of the day. Note the spark arresters, typical for units working in dry forested areas of the Northwest.

The yard hustler was backing 369 and a F7 B unit to the refueling rack. She is showing her age.
