Band History
Farcrye started with Jeff Yohe (Guitars), Mike Iman (Drums)
and Jim Sharples (Bass). Forming the group in a little home studio
Jim Sharples built in his back yard in Carson Wa. They recorded
many tracks and released their first album in 1989 "Farcrye"
with the tracks "April Fool", "Rock the Nation" and "The begining of the End".
The band performed for audiences up and down the Columbia Gorge.
The album received airplay on KGON's sunday night local artists forum
with host Inessa York, The band received good reviews from local papers,
However the band split up shortly after in 1990 to do new projects of their own.
The band was reformed in 1999. The line up included Jeff Yohe,
Former bassist for the JC Crow band Glenn Veltkamp and drummer Gary Campbell.
All taking turns at vocals. The Farcrye trio played in the Portland/vancouver
area for about 2 years. Gary Campbell went on to pursue his own album "Borrowed Time"
and the band was reformed again with Jeff Yohe, Glenn Veltkamp and new member
Kaz on drums. The power trio toured for a while before expanding to a four
piece with Roger Campbell on keyboards. The fifth member Lon Labrache on rhythym guitar
and vocals has always been in the Farcrye line up and rounds out the band.
This five piece line up rocked the local scene performing their
own brand of "Arena Rock" leaving audiences begging for more!
This band performs with such feeling and fire that is truly inspiring to watch!
We regret that Roger Campbell passed away August 2nd 2008
after a battle with Lukemia. He brought a smile to all of those that knew him.
Roger had a great sense of humor and was one hell of a piano player!
He will be missed!
The latest addition to the Farcrye line up is Jack Codron on keybords and vocals.
Jack is multi talented music veteran with 35+ years of stage and studio experience
who adds his own flare to the Farcrye sound!

One always knows that it is going to be an exciting musical
night when the dance floor fills early during the first song.
Farcrye is the basic power trio, with Jeff Yohe on guitars;
Glenn Veltkamp on five-string bass; and Kaz on drums.
They describe themselves as a classic rock/blues band,
but that description is insufficient.
They take classic rock and the blues and put their own brilliant
spin on things. Their energy works at multiple levels.
As the band says on stage,
"If it's too loud, you're too old."
Most of their songs are recognizable,
but it is clear that one is not listening to a copy of the album.
These are all talented musicians that put their individual hearts
and souls into the music, making the familiar brand new and exciting.
In addition, Farcrye adds a few original tunes to the mix.
Yohe says that they are writing more originals and are working on
a CD of all original material. Between the three of them,
they bring over 90 years of experience to the show.
Yohe picked up his first guitar in 1971, playing first
in his school stage band, then swing and jazz in nightclubs at
a very early age. Along the way, he paid close attention to the masters
such as Jimmy Page, Duane Allman, Carlos Santana and many others.
Those influences blend together into a seamless web of guitar magic,
incorporating single-pick notes, intricate finger picking,
and bottleneck slide styles. His attitude on stage is serious,
always intent upon making everything perfect for the audience.
On top of his guitar virtuosity, Yohe handles most of the vocal duties,
both directly into the mike and also through a voice-tube that
modifies his guitar sounds. (Just think of Peter Frampton.)
Veltkamp began his musical career in his home state of Montana,
then moved to Vancouver in 1978, where he first met Yohe.
Veltkamp makes full use of his five-string bass,
giving punch to the songs and keeping the bottom end solid.
Veltkamp's stage demeanor is relaxed, calm, and laid-back,
even during intense material. Veltkamp is also a vocalist,
pushing his vocal chords to the limit to put high-energy growl into the songs.
Kaz is the one pouring out the most sweat, more even than the
people on the crowded dance floor. He is a fiery drummer,
with an intense stage presence and continual smiles as he
looks like he is trying to destroy the drum heads.
He moves easily from straight rock 'n' roll beats,
to intricate polyrhythms on jazz-flavored interpretations of the blues.
It is obvious listening to these guys that they love their music
and being in front of an audience. The audience responds by
dancing and cheering, loving every minute that the band is playing.
As a significant demonstration of Farcrye's love of the music,
It is clear that they have practiced long and carefully to get
the musical breaks right, including new false stops and syncopations
added where the audience doesn't expect them.
This keeps things much more interesting than hearing the songs just
like on the record. Of the familiar bands that Farcrye covers,
typical are George Thorogood, Lynyrd Skynrd, Stevie Ray Vaughan,
Eagles, Doors, ZZ Top. This is far from a complete listing.
An especially lively song, grabbing everyone's attention,
is Mitch Ryder's Mustang Sally, where Yohe stretches the guitar
style to move away from straight rock 'n' roll to blues lightning
sounding like Buddy Guy. In response, the audience eagerly participates by
singing along on the chorus.
This style-mixing is typical of the originality
Farcrye brings to familiar cover tunes. Farcrye is based in Vancouver, Wash.,
but plays from time to time in Portland and elsewhere.
For the next few months, they are booked frequently at Club 99
and The Spot Tavern, both in Vancouver (See Music on Tap) and at the
New Phoenix Casino in La Center, Wash. For details of their upcoming schedule,
go to www.farcrye.ORG. The website also has some songs in Real Player format.
