MUSTER ROLLS

The Muster Rolls for the U.S.S. Farenholt (DD-491) were preserved on microfilm and are stored at the National Archives at College Park, Maryland.

   The Project Team is currently in the process of digitally preserving the Farenholt's World War II Muster Rolls in Adobe Portable Document File (PDF) format.

   Our current methodology is:

  • print each page of the muster rolls using a microfilm printer;

  • using a digitally recreated mask in .PDF format manually enter the information from the original muster roll page (quite illegible at times);

  • upon completion assigned a unique reference number to each .PDF page.

   To view a sample of both an original and digitally preserved Muster Roll page click here (998kb). You will need Adobe Acrobat reader to view this .PDF document which is available for download here.
