Father Bob's Slot Car Site

(I'm not really a priest, so don't panic)

Welcome to my site.  I am a member of the WSSCA (West Suburban Slot Car Association) on the western outskirts of Chicago, Il.  After about a 30 year hiatus from my old Strombecker set in the 60's I rediscovered the world of home and club slot car racing about 3 years ago.

My first track was the Highland Raceway.  This track was built by my buddy John Delvalle and I.  It was a 36 foot classic Scalextric track that was painstakingly landscaped.  It was nice enough looking to be featured in Model Car Racing magazine #7!!

My newest adventure is a wooden track based on the Meadowdale International Raceway that existed from about 1958 to 1968 in Carpentersville, Il.  My neighbor Doug Beach got me interested in the track and I did my research on the Meadowdale Site authored by Ross Fosbender.  After listening to Doug's dad recount his days of driving Porsches at Meadowdale, researching the Meadowdale site and walking the remnants of the actual track (it is now protected as a Forest Preserve), I, along with our club members embarked on re-creating Meadowdale as a routed wooden slot car track.
