Cardboard Layout and Elevation Test
There were many elevation changes at Meadowdale and I wanted to create at least the "feel" of the course. My plan was to stagger the driving stations so the drivers would have an entirely different perspective of the track depending on the lane they were driving. The uphill and serpentine curves (at the left on this picture) were actually below the level of the straightaway, but I realized that the driver on the far right (out of the picture) would not be able to see the cars, so I went from a 3 level to a two level frame (shown here on temporary shelving units). So this major concession had to be made to the design to allow for everyone to see their cars. Once I determined how the frame should be built, down came the cardboard templates to be used to help lay out the MDF boards for cutting.
