Jay' & Michelle's 1999 house "Most Evocative of an Elvis Presley Song" says this award-winning creation by Jay Lorch and Michelle Teague.  Aliens stand guard on the rooftop while two prisoners, located behind the pretzel stick fence topped with pipe cleaner barbed wire, groove.  The bars in the jailhouse window are made of black licorice ("Best Use of Licorice").  Jay and Michelle carefully crafted a revolving door as part of their gingerbread social commentary ("Best Political/Social Commentary"), all the more amazing because it works.  This house was richly deserving of all the awards it won.

Erica's 1999 house  Picture yourself on a boat on a river.  Imagine the river is in an underground cave in New Zealand.  Imagine the boat is, well, there's really no boat.  Just imagine you're in the Lost World cave in the south island of New Zealand, looking up.  Then, you might see a similar sight.  Blue frosting denotes an icy cold stream leading into the cave of stalactites and stalagmites further in.  Green frosting adds rich plant life, as two abseilers ("Highest 'Rambo-rating'") descend to the cave floor.  Yellow frosting dotted to the right of the boulders bring to mind glowworms, their luminescence faintly shining in the darkness. A couple of sheep ("Best Use of Lanolin") lazily observe the proceedings from on top, unaware that death awaits them in this "Best Depiction of Dead Kiwi Farm Animals" award-winning creation by Erica Cleary.

Eric's 1999 house Yes, it's similar to that Blair Witch movie.  The panel of judges thought so too, naming this creation the "Most Likely to Make Someone Say "I'm sooooo scared!" award.  Some even felt that this effort by Eric Brooks was deserving of the "Zeniest" award.  Gingerbread pieces were crushed to make the brown textured surface, while candy decorations were pulverized to make the colorful ("Most Appealing to a Colorblind Cocaine Junkie") pigments used for the many figures and shapes.  However, all this effort also led its creator securing his place as the two-time winner of the "Eric Brooks Memorial Award for the Biggest Waste of Adam & Erica's Time Spent Baking Walls Only to Have Them Crumbled & Destroyed and Made a Mockery of."

Adam's 1999 house It's me.  Mine.  I did this one.  Alright, enough of the full disclosure.  Yes, that's a gallows and yes, it works (500K download; Windows Media Player will show it).  Custom gingerbread pieces provide the bracing and support to let Big Boy ("Cruelest Fate of a Beloved American Fast Food Icon") plummet to his neck-breaking death from this colorfully decorated ("Most Inappropriately Festive") platform.  M&M topped marshmallows and red frosting provide a path to his swaying body ("Most Well Hung"), while red juju-fruits atop the gallows warn away low-flying craft in this "Tallest" winning creation by Adam Cash.

Still not enough?

Have you seen any good gingerbread houses on the net? Let me know and I'll post a picture here for all to see.
