We at the Great Lakes Nautical Society would again like to express our heartfelt "Thanks" for the much appreciated logistical support given by Mr. James Acheson and the Acheson Ventures organization. Without their help the model ship regatta would not have been the success that it was. Thanks again. Great Lakes Nautical Society |

Blue skies prevailed once again over our 2nd annual Port Huron Great Lakes Regatta. There were some new models on display and running in the pond. Also, the improved pond made more room to travel and even saw some sails in the water. At noon, the upbound 1000 footer Oglebay Norton gave a few salutes and came a little closer to the Seaway Terminal than usual. Other events included the Marine Mart, which deals in Great Lakes memorabilia, and the free tours of the retired buoy tender Bramble and sea cadet training vessel Grey Fox. We saw the madden voyage of Jim Carnagie’s World War I Laker |

Canadian Engineer, Alan Hinchmans’s Vacationland (left) and Ed Cook’s Highlander Sea. Even though she capsized, it will not have to be towed to Sault Ste. Marie for repairs. A big thanks to the judges, the Captain of the Grey Fox, Jeff Gushman and our very own Jeff Churill. Judging was very difficult do to the many magnificent models. But, buy the end of the show the awards were given out and Jim Carnegie came out on top with four plaques. You can check |
