I was talking to someone about how to use paint and tape to make hull lines. So I decided to give it a try. The first step is to put a base coat of the color you’re going to use. Let that dry and now take some blue painter’s tape and run them horizontally. Depending on the size you want, you can either leave a small gap between the rows or you can overlap and cut out the tape to the desired size. Now you can cut out the vertical lines, remembering to skip every other row. One you have the lines all cut out you can spray on several coats of paint, allowing each coat to dry. After the last coat dries, you can know pull off all the tape. You will need to sand down the lines with fine sandpaper and give a final coat. There are other ways to get the desired look you need. I would experiment with this before you apply it to your model. |
