But for now...
My Own Mods
The following are mods that I have developed or information that I have put together which may be useful to other people wanting to mod their own LTTO gear:
LTTO "Deluxe" Model HUD and Thunderport Connectors
-- This shows what pins carry which signals, and how much each output can drive. This is the starting point for all modifications that just plug into the Tagger.
Battery Tray Jiggle Preventer
-- The Deluxe and Drone models can sometimes have a momentary battery disconnect if bumped into things, dropped, or swung up to firing position or swung around rapidly. This is a way to keep the batteries from moving in the tray, so that the processor won't lock up. But also see PartyTagger's Battery Jiggle Mod in the section below.
Deluxe Wiring Mod
-- the early-production Deluxes had a wiring problem that reduced the receiver sensitivity, and this is the fix. This mod is only needed if you have some of the really early model Deluxe Taggers, purchased in July or August 2004 and which came strapped into the box using gray twist-ties instead of white zip-ties. The lot numbers affected were all earlier than C290A/41101.
Red Dot Sight Adapter
-- Not so much a mod as a home-made accessory, this was a way to mount a paintball red-dot sight on the Deluxe in the days before the Vitual Scope accessory came out. It is still a better sight than the virtual scope, but of course costs more and takes longer to do.
Drone self-hit fix for WOW mode
-- The IRT-2X "Drone" model has a Worlds Of Wonder ("WOW") compatability mode. Unfortunately, that mode has a self-hit problem due to some wiring and coil issues in the receiver. This is the fix! If you don't play games with mixed LTTO and old WOW gear, don't bother with this mod, it won't achieve anything for you.
The following mods were developed by LTTO enthusiasts other than myself. They are all located on other servers, and do not have direct links back to here so you will need to use your browser's "Back" button when you are done viewing them (or, use right-click and "open in new window" to get to them):
PartyTagger's Battery Jiggle Mod
-- PartyTagger worked up this nice and easy way to overcome battery-jiggle problems in his TagParty business. It is made from much easier-to-find material than mine was.
PartyTagger's Deluxe Sights Mod
-- a nice day-glow sight for the Deluxe, so that you can sight along the top instead of the side. A bit fragile, but cool.
PartyTagger's HIT lights mod for the Drone
-- Make your Drone light up when hit, the same way the Tag Master Blaster does! This mod could be made on the Deluxe model too, but you will need to mount the LED's a little differently.
Flux's Mods
-- From the Master Modder himself, a list too extensive to do justice to! Just go there and check out the ever-growing list of mods from the man who is probably the most prolific LTTO Modder of them all:
Reload Button for Deluxes (eliminates the reload lever)
Starbase Drone (the ultimate Zone or Respawn Game Hoster)
Auto-Fire-On-Lock (a Sentry Gun starting point!)
Scope HUD (put the Deluxe's HUD indicators inside the Virtual Scope)
HUD and HUD-less HUD Mods (if you don't like the HUD but like the info)
No-Rumble-On-Fire Thunderpack Mod (lower the confusion level, increase range)
Scope Fastener (Tired of losing Virtual Scopes? Fasten 'em on!)
Drone Holster (what good's a sidearm without a holster?)
SpookyBoy's Side-Mounted HUD Mod
-- If you like the HUD data but don't like wearing the HUD, this mod puts it beside the scope. It has the added advantage of doing no permaanent damage to any of the components, so you can always reassemble your HUD back tothe way it came if you want to.
Bill Hindley's External Sensor Mod
-- a brilliant mod to relocate the receiver dome to a head-worn location so that there is no "body shadow" issue when players are running away.
