Our 45th BHS-64 Reunion -
September 2nd through September 7th in Park City, UT.
Thoughts on Monday, September 7th, 2009:
Those of us who attended another fantastic Reunion are gradually returning to our collective homefronts. We enjoyed another great opportunity to visit and mingle with classmates from another time and place. If you chose not to attend, you missed another of our dwindling opportunities for fellowship with like-minded folks. If you could not attend, we certainly hope that you will join us at the next event -- whenever -- and wherever -- that is.
Linda Mapes had hoped to attend but could not because of unexpected surgeries. Linda had not attended a reunion before and wanted to join this one from her home near Salt Lake City. Saturday evening, Linda and her husband Brent (Olsen) dropped by the hospitality suite just to say 'Hello.' She was welcomed with many hugs and smiles. We cajoled Linda and Brent to please join us on our Train Ride and barbecue dinner event. They were able to go with us then returned to our hospitality suite for a (too) short visit before returning home. Linda was still on the mend, yet she thought enough of us to at least come by and I am convinced that we have another convert who will be with us at our next meeting. Linda was just as gorgeous and sweet as we remember her and Brent was a delight as well.
I continue to say that if you have stayed away through some reluctance that you (like me) didn't think you were the most popular person in school, you are making a mistake. Sherry (whom I did not know) kept telling me in our phone conversations shortly after I was 'found' that I would meet classmates that I didn't know and gain new and fast friends. I didn't believe her. I was WRONG. I now have some of the best friends that one could have. I will not miss an opportunity to visit with my good friends whenever possible. Joe Bremer said it best at dinner Saturday evening. He said something to the effect that we do not know how much time we, or others, have here on this earth. To not enjoy one another in this life is a mistake that we most certainly will regret.
Several of us took photographs during our days in Park City. I intend to create a photograph folder similar to the Panama 2009 Reunion photos. Others will be forwarding their photos to me and I will mingle them together and try to get everyone's names listed with each photograph and publish them to this Web site. If I find out tomorrow that I am unemployed, it will be within a month or so (I hope). If I remain employed, it will take a little longer -- but I will do it. I like the way the Panama photos turned out and I want the same for this time. Those of you who couldn't attend will enjoy seeing friends again and know the fun we were having. Those of you who choose not to attend might just be surprised at the camaraderie that is obvious in the photos.
If you still are unconvinced about attending a reunion, contact Linda Mapes Olsen, John Lincoln, John Millar, Billy (Willie) Shepard, Charles Willman or Sandra Sue Roth-Roffy. All of these classmates joined us for the first time while we met in Park City. I asked none of them their permission to mention them above. You just contact them. I haven't a doubt that they will tell you that they had a great time and that they will join us again.
Sincerely,
