The Friendship Force of
Northern Colorado

2005 in Review

2005 President Nancy Brigden began the year encouraging members to develop and use their talents to benefit the club.   Club members worked diligently all year long to expand our knowledge and experiences of other cultures and to share, with new friends, the uniqueness of our own culture.

Every 2nd Friday of the month, community meetings, with programs of international interest and an abundant refreshment table, are open to the public and our membership.

March 1, 2005, our club joined more than 175 other Friendship Force Clubs around the world in observing the first World Friendship Day.   Concurrently we celebrated the 19th Birthday for The Friendship Force of Northern Colorado .  Proclamations were received from the mayors in Loveland (pictured below), Ft. Collins , and Windsor supporting the anniversary of our club and FFI.   Greeley Mayor Tom Selders (photo below) attended the celebration and presented official recognition to our club.

In support of The Legacy Fund to expand Friendship Force in key areas of the world, Northern Colorado held a series of intimate fund raising dinners with an international theme.   At the dinners, held throughout the year,  club members became better friends and enjoyed a table of special gourmet food prepared and hosted  by one of our member households.

In the spring our club was visited by new friends from The Netherlands.   Afterward one Ambassador wrote us,  "I'm so impressed with how many of your people you were able to involve in our exchange and how many chances we had to get to know them.   I hope to talk with you more about how we can do that here in Holland ."

And in August a Florida club came to visit.    They got a taste of our wild western culture though Bison burgers and tours of ranches, forts, and Rocky Mountain National Park.   Pictured at the right below is our ED, Thelma, presenting her counterpart, Marilyn, with a club gift.
